Hairdo for black tie (preferred) wedding

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday in Philly. We're driving over there the day of and checkingninto teh hotel. I figured it would be easuer to get my hair done in NY, because I don't really know any salons in PA.

I'm wearing a strapless black satin A line ballgown. How do you think I should wear my hair? I've worn the gown before and I've gotten an all up updo, it looked pretty but a little severe. I'm kind of hedging. I don't know if I should eevn bother getting my hair done (after all it's FH's stupid family....no, but seriously...)Is there any other way to wear hair with a gown like that? Is there anything I can do at home?

Thanks!

I would just wear a french twist, or but your hair half up half down and curl the whole thing.

That's a good idea. Maybe I cna do the half up half down myself with a pretty clip or something. We're just spending so uch $$ to go to this wedding and I don't really know the people, so I almost feel weird being TOO dolled up Especially since FH is just wearing a black suit b/c his tux does not fit!

Where are you staying in philly... maybe I can help?

Driving with your hair all done up sucks and believe me I have done the LI to philly drive too many times

I'm staying at the hyatt regency penn's landing (that's where the wedidng is) Yeah i really didn't want to drive w/ my hair done, esp since we ight have to tkae FH's car w/ no A/c. It would be better if I could check into teh hotel early, take a shower, get my hair done and then go to teh wedding at 6:30. Let me know if you think of anything.

Mary,

Can you make a pony tail? My daughter and I just bought these great little artificial hair clips at a kiosk in the mall and you just clamp them on and they look great. If you feel up to it you can throw some fancy clips or rhinestones in. They are very inexpensive and really match quite well. I've have great success with it and people compliment me on my do! Unfortunately I'm not beyond pulling it off and saying you can have it too! It looks great on DH I'm sure a mall near you has them.
