Hairdresser Dilemna - what's proper?

i've been going to the same salon for 3+ years. about a year ago, i get a call that susan has quit the salon, with no other information (got the impression it wasn't over good terms). they assigned me another hairdresser Mary, who i have been using and have bonded with and really like her work. i drive by the salon the other day and now susan is back!!!! am i obligated to go back to susan - i liked her work also? both women know about the wedding. i feel awkward going back there at all!! i think i would prefer to stay with mary, but i'm afraid of the awkwardness with susan.

what do you guys think??

You are the customer, and you should do what makes you most comfortable. Stay with Mary. Susan will have to understand that when she left she lost some clients. Dont feel bad, this happens all the time im sure.. I switched hairdressers once in my salon, and i didnt feel bad, and i was never made uncomfortable about it at all..

If you like Mary I would stay with her. I feel that since she never contacted you about her new location that you don't owe her any loyalty. And it's good to know that if Mary is not available you have a back-up right there.

I agree with Christine. I was going to the same hairdresser for a while and when she changed salons, she called me at home to let me know where she was going. That's what Susan needed to do if she wanted to keep you as a customer. Stay with Mary if you like her work!

You are the customer and go with whoever you are happiest with.
