Hair/makeup help - need opinions

Hair/makeup help - need opinions

So, I had a hair/makeup trial back in like ... March or April. I never posted pics because I wasn't 100% thrilled. I did sign with this person because I believed that we could finetune what she did that day at another trial.

I ... wasn't crazy about the makeup. It photographed reasonably well, but in person I was not loving it. I cannot really put a finger on why. I am going for another trial on Sunday and I'm trying to pinpoint exactly what I want to tell her to do differently, so I figured I would open this up to my LIW ladies for advice.

If you had this face (god forbid), what would you ask your MU artist to do differently this time around?

(I loved my hair but it didn't stay because my hair was in awful need of a haircut - like, I had 4 inches of disgusting split ends - and it was so long that the curls weren't staying right. As an aside, my hair is naturally very curly so ALSO I went in with it in a braid so she did not start the hair with straightening it. When I go Sunday, it will be straight. So I don't need any improvement comments on the hair!!! )

First off missy, you shut your mouth about your face. That's an order

I don't think the makeup looks bad. It's very sheer and natural. However, I would probably say to amp it up a bit for day of. Maybe have a more dramatic eye, with a more defined difference of color between lid and crease, and more highlighting shimmer under the brow. I would add just a bit more blush and do some more contouring with blush/bronzer. The lip color I actually like, I'm big into peachy lips, but I would just ask for a little more, and maybe a nude or very light brown liner to give it more definition. Overall I think it's a very pretty look, and I like the color palette, I just think for day of it needs a heavier hand. HTH.

I would ask her for more color on the eyes so your eyes can pop some more and a darker shade because the lip color you had was too sheer.

Thanks Ali. That is how I felt too. I feel like I wear makeup on a regular basis, and while it's not heavy, I'm used to it so I felt like I looked like I was wearing less than usual, which was weird. Thank you for your opinion, very helpful!

OK so I think your hair will def be more in place the day of... and just more polished over all. meaning no fly aways etc.

the complexion of your makeup (foundations and powder) looks TERRIFIC!!! I even like the sheer lips.

If you want more then perhaps you should try to go a little bit heavier along the lashline on your top eyelids. like a light smokey look. If you are going to go darker on the eyes... then I say leave the lips light. You don't want dark eyes and dark lips.

You can also play with some colors if you want. There is a mac color called Smut... that's PERFECT for a smokey look! it's like a dark brownish color. I know I'm saying smokey... but i don't mean it to be a DARK smokey or overly smokey... just a tad darker than you have now.

Also you can see what she might be able to do with the smut or even a black eyeshadaw (don't fear the black eyeshadow)... like smudge it along your lashline where the end of your eyeliner would be... that will def give it a more dramatic effect without going overboard with lots of color on your eyelids. You can even do this AND add some eyeshadow to your crease. I feel like either she used a VERY light eyeshadow there or it's the same as your highlight eyeshadow. Either way it's very light.

Does she know that you normally wear makeup? I can see MU artists getting scared of overdoing it, then causing the bride to freak out! haha!!

I went in and the first thing I said was, 'I wear makeup daily, and I wear a fair amount of it, so I'm definitely NOT afraid of it, and feel free to put lots on.' And then everything was very sheer and I was like ... 'can you put more liner/shadow/blush???' So, I like the foundations of it (like you said) but it definitely needs more. Thank you for the suggestions!!!

I love the hair and makeup! You look beautiful!! I do think its a tad light on your eyes though. I think if it was just a little more pop on your eyes it would be perfect!

Glad you're keeping the hair because I loveeee it!

Make-up: I think it looks really great, but to make it look more different for your special day, I'd say to do more dramatic lashes and slightly darker shadow? What do you think about that? Those 2 thigns can really spruce it up!

Thanks girls. I agree. I need to just tell her to make my eye more dramatic and perhaps a bit more blush and I should be good.

Appreciate the help and opinions!
