hair/makeup tipping

hair/makeup tipping

i know this question has been asked a thousand times before but if your hair and makeup people are the owners of their own business and are traveling to you on the day-of, how much, if anything, are you tipping them?

edited to make sense

I don't know what I would do if it was the owners of the business...Do you know them personally?

My makeup artist I tipped $50 and my hairstylist I tipped $50.

I don't know them personally ... but they're both making almost $1k each for just a few hours (big bridal party)

I would have $50 aside for each, and see how it goes the day of. Having gotten married, AND been in a bridal party for a close friend soon after, I would say have the tips ready and see if you feel they deserve them. Some people really come through on your day, and you want to make sure you have $$ put aside in order to tip them. If they don't impress you, they don't get a tip! Go with your gut the day of. Good luck!!!

I think tipping is a must, but the amount to reflect how happy you are with the service.

I've been wondering the same thing, and have very often heard that if the makeup/hair artist comes to you then you don't need to tip them, since they are already getting 100% of what you're paying. In a salon, it's different because some of your money goes to the business, and some goes to the artist. Let's keep this thread going, since I'd like to see what the majority of you gals plan on doing!
