Hairstylist Question

Hairstylist Question

OK! Maybe I'm sounding like an @ss! BUT, I like this hair salon by my house. Everyone their is hip & some are young. Now, I've gone to this one stylist everytime I'm there. But, I want someone else to do my hair. I just feel that the girl who does my hair is a bit young & a yes mam. If I want to do some major change to my style I want someone who can say 'Oh this would look good' or 'Don't do that'! She doesn't seem able to utter either words.

The girl knows me So I feel that she might get offended if I start going to someone else. Is this crazy?

Re: Hairstylist Question

I had a stylist call the girl who does my hair now to say she 'stole' me. She replied 'well if that means Mary wanted someone that actually remembered how she parts her hair and that she likes alot of razoring done to her hair, then yep - I sure did steal her!'

I think if a stylist is insecure, she'll be offended. If she knows that she's not going to please every customer and can get over the fact that some people want to go to another place, then she may be sad but will get over it.

Maybe you should talk to the girl and tell her that while you think she does a good job overall, you want to try out other stylists. I don't know if I would go to the same place though, that might be awkward. But maybe she won't mind - if she's young but secure, she'll know that it's not personal that you are switching.

Good luck

Re: Hairstylist Question

I should hope that if she is a true professional, she will understand.
If you really do not hink she will understand, what you might want to do is make an appointment when you know she has another customer. This way it seems as if she was too busy to take you rather than you not wanting her.

Edited for spelling

I know how you feel. I have been going to the same girl for about 9 years now. She always cuts my hair the same way. I am so bored with my hair. Any way I would tell her how you feel. If she doesnt do what you want then I would try someone new.

There is no one at the salon I go to that I would want to do my hair. Plus its in Hicksville and I live out east so I am in the hunt for someone new.

Re: Hairstylist Question

I was thinking of calling & asking when is the girl not working & go on her day off. How stupid is this?

I would probably do the same thing.

Well, I wouldn't ask when she isn't working .. but rather .. what her schedule is .. then sound let down she wasn't in on a given day .. and book that given day with someone else .. otherwise .. I'd try a totally different place.

I know .. maybe it's lame .. but I'm so tired of dealing on a daily basis with people's confrontational attitudes and personality problems .. that I try to avoid any additional conflicts as much as possible.

As far as I'm concerned .. in general, most people working in the service industry have no business in that business!!

Well, I opened up my ValPak coupons & there was a coupon for 50% off from a salon I've heard good things about. So, I went there! I like the way my hair color came out. And love that I got wash, cut, color, highlights & a blow out for $58!

I live on LI so going to Hair on 14th is quite a distance. I do miss going to them!! I really love how they do hair there. I will however go back there. I said that to myself yesterday. I asked the girl to do whatever to my hair (cut wise) & she just seemed to trim it. Penny would of giving me a TOTALLY different look. And I trust Penny.

I got my hair done there for my wedding as did all of my girls & my 2 SIL's. My sister & niece both got there haircut that day & I mean CUT. And they both came out beautiful!
