I'm concerned about the cost and the fact that a full eternity could break or lose diamonds. On the other hand eternity is classic. What do you think?

I want an eternity band also; however, I would be very nervous that the diamonds could come out. I think they're so beautiful though!

I am having the same dilemma. I went to go see both this past weekend and I fell in love with the full eternity.

Re: Half Eternity or Full eternity
I'm lefthanded so full is totally out - had a lot to do w/ my e-ring too when FH picked it out (type of metal/style).
But even if i wasn't lefthanded having the full would make me worry a lot about diamonds fallilng out.

My ring is going to be 3/4 around. The one I tried on was full which I was afraid would get damaged and the halfway around looked weird with my e-ring b/c my e-ring is 3/4 around. See what looks best with yous.

Mine's 3/4 -- I wanted the option of turning it if I wanted a different look, and I wanted to be able to get it engraved. You can't engrave it if it's all the way around.

Mine is engraved and it goes all the way around. But on the inside, is that what you meant?

Re: Half Eternity or Full eternity
I'm left handed and have a full..no problems.
I did find it makes a difference on the quality of the Jeweler...when i went to jewelry exchanges/flea markets, the rings were uncomfortable and not made as well, the prongs stuck up which made it rough and they got caught on thing. I did not notice this until I had mine made for me by my jeweler. It is so comfortable and the prongs are low and tight so that you cannot feel them and they do not get caught on anything.
I just recommend going to a reputable jeweler. If the diamonds fall out, I'm sure he will also replace them but the women in my family have had eternity rings for 15 years and more and have never lost a stone.
Also, make sure they match the stones exactly to that of your ering. You want to make sure they are the same color and clarity otherwise if your ering is at all yellow or cloudy, it might show.

Mine's channel set and I was told it could not be engraved behind the diamonds since you can actually see them on the inside as well the way the setting is so I could only have it engraved in the area that the diamonds aren't behind. Maybe it depends on your setting.

i have a 3/4 eternity ering and love it...I do think the full eternity is pretty...buttt I also kind of think its a waste bc you never see the other diamonds and they get banged around alot

Re: Half Eternity or Full eternity
what does 3/4 look like?
I want eternity, but I am NOT a delicate person, so I'm afraid of losing stones. I think the half is moe practical, and who sees the bottom of the ring anyway, right?
Although my grandma had a full eternity and it lasted 40 years.

Re: Half Eternity or Full eternity
I was unsure as well. I was worried about the diamonds coming loose on the full one if I hit my palm against something, or it pinching against my other fingers, yet I loved the look. It turns out that when I tried on the full eternity at the jewelers, it really didn't do anything for my finger. My finger was just too short and pudgy to pull the look off right! I would say to try them on and see if that helps you to make your decision.

Re: Half Eternity or Full eternity
we did 3/4 around for e-ring and will most likely do the same for wedding band. I am a lefty and I bang around all the time with my ring. The platinum is so scratched as it is and I lost a pave (which was replaced), i cant imagine what would happen if I had a full band.

Re: Half Eternity or Full eternity
I REALLY wanted a full eternity at first. But I talked to two different saleswomen in two different jewelry stores...They both said that they are not worth it. One woman said that it was such a liability to her company that they stopped selling them. They were always replacing missing stones.
Now that could be because their rings weren't quality rings. And those are THEIR opinions of full eternity rings.
I personally won't get a full eternity because I don't want to have my children and then my fingers swell and I can't have my ring resized. Yes I could order it a size bigger and get the little sizer balls put in, but to me that is too much of a hassle.
With that being said, make sure you get the ring that YOU like the best!
Happy decision making!

Mine is shared prong, and you don't see the diamonds from the inside. I guess you are right, dependent on the setting.
