What price did you think you were going to spend on your reception hall and what did you actually spend?

Re: Hall
I thought it would be around 90 a person. It ended up being 135/person. But my parents really helped us out

Re: Hall
I did not know what to think, but I had an idea of around $100. That did not happen because mine is now $135 + whatever extra's I add later on

Re: Hall
I wanted to spend about $70-$80 per plate total. I ended up paying $85.00 per plate in total (including tax and gratuity). But I am very happy with my hall. I love it and I never thought that I could get what I am paying there.

Re: Hall
i thought i was going to spend like 100 a person and i ended up spending 135 a person and of course the 135 gets tax and gratuity added so it's even more than that when it's all said and done!

Re: Hall
I thought it was going to be around $200 a person. I really didn't know anything about planning a wedding. I was so releived when I found out that a lot of places were 1/2 that amount or even less.

Re: Hall
The first place I went to was Carltun on the Park and proceeded to get my heart broken with the price. It was my first pick at the time and I literally cried as I left there. DH said that we could have it there but only invite 50 people. I was crushed.
I didn't have a number in my head, but I knew that number they gave me was not the number..not even close.
I ended up spending about 15% more than I thought I would after all was said and done...damn those service charges and taxes.

Re: Hall
i had a similar situation as blu-ize. i just went in to places and i really had no idea how much things cost. i think its really smart to figure out what you can afford before you go to all of the rhs. then when you go, tell them this is how much i can spend including tax and tip, what can you do for me. i personally ended up spending about 10 dollars more per person than i budgeted for but they threw in a lot of extras for me so i was happy.
