So due to the fact that I've been to over 10 RH's and still haven't found my 'dream place,' FH and I are thinking outside the box. We are really rustic and country people; we listen to country music, he drives a huge pickup truck, we love living out east where we can ride horses, hit the farmstands and pumpkin patches, go hunting and camping...Heck, our dream is to build a log cabin on a lake in Pennsylvania!!!!!!!!! We're really laid back and need to find a place that reflects that without a lot of glitz and glamour.
So I found a place called the Hallockville Farm and they rent their 1500 sq ft BARN for weddings and other events for only $1750. But it's a barn, so it would need a LOT of sprucing up (which I am sure we can do fairly cheap). They will also give you a 20x20 tent for $250 more. So here's my thinking:
We can have our wedding in the early afternoon on a Saturday in early June with the CH in the tent with a bluegrass band for music. The tent will be decorated, draping, lights, flowers, etc. Then we move into the barn, which is also decorated, maybe with string twinkle lights, tulle, flowers, rustic jars and pitchers of flowers, floral tablecloths, vintage lantern CPs, for dinner with the DJ or band.
Is this totally crazy, totally too much, and people will think we're nutso?????? TIA

Hi Dina, unfortunately MC is a little out of our price range. The site fee is $7500 and $150pp ++
I love DIY-ing and FH is a handyman so between us we'd probably be able to pull it off, I am just concerned that we'd go overbudget because of that.
