Halter style dress and a necklace??

I was just looking at the halter top dress I want,and Im wondering what kind of necklace, if any at all, should I wear? I can't find any pictures of brides wearing necklaces with halter tops....

My dress has a thin halter strap and I was contemplating the necklace situation as well. I decided that if anything I'll wear a diamond solitaire so it doesn't compete too much or close me in.

something small or something that falls the same way the neckline does would work best... or some people do a choker, but that may be a little too outdated now lol... You could also do some kind of 'invisible' necklace, where you can't see the chain and it looks like its floating in the middle of the opening created by the neckline...

HMm my Bs had this problem. Their dresses have the same thick straps as your gown. They decided to go without necklaces and instead are doing larger chandelier earrings and a bracelet. I personally think you should nix the necklace. You don't need oen with the intricate top and hey, look at magazines-its rare when you see brides wearing elaborate necklaces with their gowns. This season there is a lot of dangly earrings and barer necklines. I am wearing strapless and going with vintage looking pearl earrings and a bracelet. No necklace. Its more than enough because the earrings are AWESOME.:) Even prettier in person-just got them.

These are them btw...

But I digress.. :smile:

If you really have your heart set on a necklace, I would go with the illusion kind someone else suggested, because I feel a pendant or choker would just be too much going on.

It will look more delicate then a regular strand of pearls becaus of the 'empty' spots and youcan customize colors and stones on this site.

Thank you ladies for your ideas...I never really thought about this until I started looking at jewelry. I orignally wanted to wear a strapless dress (until I tried one on) but when I changed the dress I wanted I realized it might be a problem. I love the idea of the floating solitare...and Peteysbride, those earrings are gorgeous!!!!

imo i think a necklace with a halter dress takes away from the dress. i would go with beautiful earrings and a tiara or hairpins. i wore a straples dress with no necklace because i felt the necklace would take away from the top of my dress.

I think w/ the halter dress, you should use long chandelier earrings instead.....otherwise, you'll have too much going on in the neck area.

IMO, I wouldn't wear a necklace with a halter. I just don't like the way it looks. I would do larger earrings, if you are comfortable wearing them.

a chocker if anything would be nice, but I wouldn't waer anything. I would wear some cute earrings and a bracelet and let the halter be my necklace

I don't think you need a necklace, if anything and you want to I would have it be something very delicate and not tooo much...

Don't think you need one but a simple one might work...I had a halter dress (detailed strap) and choose not to wear a necklace.

I am wearing a halter dress and also wearing big earrings only... no necklace.

I'm not wearing any jewelry. For a halter top, I would not recommend a necklace, it would look a bit too much. The high neck line of the halter may cover the necklace. Unless the necklace was very simple. Very thin line with a small crystal or a small pear at the end.
