they're pocket folds, but i dont think i'd say bulky - its only ribbon and monogram on the front of it...

i wouldnt worry too much about it... but you can always send a test invite to yourself to see how it holds up with out hand cancelling!

Hand cancelling allows you to ensure the stamps get cancelled somewhat neatly.

When they go through the machine, there's always the chance the cancel mark will be all over the front.

how exactly does this work?? what are you supposed to do when you go to the post office? do you get your invite measured before hand and buy the stamps based on the weight and bring it back to hand cancel??

My invites are square so technically they need to hand cancelled but sometimes they dont automatically do it. I took one invite to the post office to find out the postage. When they were ready to be mailed i brought them in and told them i wanted them hand cancelled. They happily gave me the stamp and i stamped them myself. My town's post office is very friendly so they had no problem with it. Sometimes they will do it for you, sometimes they refuse to do it because they are lazy. It depends. If they give you a problem I would just go to a different post office.

It does depend on the PO you visit. Most POs in the city are instructed to turn people away. My friend who works at a PO told me to give them to him to do it so it will get done.

my post office says that they hand cancel all the wedding invitations anyways. I would probably just do what your post office recommends!
