Hand canceling help

I live in Indiana, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but we went to the post office today to see how much our postage is going to cost for our invitations. They told us it is going to cost an extra 20 cents per envelope to hand cancel them, is this correct? I didn't think it cost extra, but I don't want my invitations to get damaged by going through the machine.

My invites are square and required extra postage b/c they had to be hand cancelled but I do not know if there is a charge if you WANT to have them hand cancelled. Check out the USPS website.

really!! thats annoying! i would try a different post office before you spend the extra 20 cents!! thats alot extra for them to just individually stamp the envelope!

Ok that you everyone! I didn't think this was right, so I am going to try a different post office.

Def try another post office, they shouldn't be charging you extra for this.

what if you said you would hand cancel them yourself? That's what I plan on doing so I know it actually gets done!

HAAAAAAAAAA dont rely on that.... not sure if you read my post office story, but i told the guy twice that i would do it for him bc he had this look of disgust on his face and he WOULDNT let me do it and wouldnt do it while i was standing there... i thought for sure it wasnt going to get done right, but it did thankfully ....
