Ok so this is after the fact but I dropped my invites off at the post office and the guys said they don't hand cancel them there (it was a small post office) so I just left them there anyway and told him to run them through the machine. I am a little nervous now!!!!! Was that a huge mistake? He told me they would be okay. Please comfort me!!!!

They will be fine. I did not hand cancell my invites and everyone received them ontime and not damaged.

Re: Hand cancelling
I dropped my invitations off at the post office and never hand cancelled them and 80% of our guests never received their invitation, OR if they did receive it, it was shredded into pieces.
Don't freak out though.......my situation is just a SMALL percentage....... The bad luck vibe just follows me around........
I think as long as they are flat, you won't have an issue at all

Re: Hand cancelling
WHAT??????????? Shredded to pieces!!!!!!!???? That is insane! Hand cancelling is when they hand stamp the post mark on your envelope so that the invites aren't run through the machine and damaged. I had no idea they actually got damaged sometimes though - I thought everyone was being paranoid!!!! I'm so sorry that happened to you billandme!
