Hand Cancelling ?

Dont mind my stupidity

you bring the envelopes to the post office and either the employee stamps it for you by hand or they give you the stamp and you stamp them yourself. This way, it looks a little neater and avoids your precious invites being sent through the machine twice. They'll still go through once, but it only takes a few minutes to have them hand cancelled so you might as well do it! HTH

yup! you know the wavy lines that they put over a stamp to 'cancel' it so it can't be used again? well its usually done by a machine, but hand cancelling means somebody does that by hand and svaes them from going through the machine.
BUT... they still have to go through several other sorting machines to get where they are going, so to me it wans't woth stressing over... becasue even if you do hand cancel, theres stilla good chance something might happen to the invites during the sorting process.... i just think its one of those things you shouldn't stress over.... good luck!

I didnt do mine either-the employee did it-but our second invites that we sent (after the post office sent some back to us ) i just handed them in they got to their destination just fine.

What is it? A big old waste of time - unless you have wax seals or something that will be destroyed by the machine, there's no point. We put ours in the regular way and they came out just fine.

I don't know anybody who had a problem with regular canceled invitations being messed up or anything except people who had seals, etc, out the outside of their envelopes, which isn't really a great idea anyway, because they ARE likely to get caught on things or scraped off.

I agree, it's a little bit of a time waster.
I didn't hand canel my invites and they had a gold seal on the back. I didn't get any complaints and the invites were fine.
