I asked our post office if they did hand cancelled and they said they do
Now my FH is going to take the invites to the post office...does he have to watch them hand cancel each one?

Re: hand cancelling question
I asked my PO if they do & they said they did. I said when is a good time to bring them in tomorrow & she said, well you'll just be leaving them and we will hand cancel them when we find time during the day.
I was a bit hesitant, but they all turned out to be hand cancelled.

Whats hand cancelling?
they stamp the envelopes instead of putting it through a machine where they can get bent or smooshed

Re: hand cancelling question
No, I just left mine and they were fine. I saw some of the invites that went to my FMIL's house. I just assumed that they did them all.

Re: hand cancelling question
When I brought mine in, the man said that he will hand cancel them when they are slow...so I am assuming he just did a little at a time.

Re: hand cancelling question
The first time I went in with invites, he let me do them myself, so I stood there hand canceling all of them. The second batch, they said they would do, i didnt watch them though!

Re: hand cancelling question
They were really busy when I went in there so I just left them. Everyone got their invites the next day so I know they got to them!!

The po I went to, saw the stack of envelopes and asked if I would like them hand cancelled-b/c they do them all.....everything turned out really good..I didn't have to stand there and wait for her to stamp all of them either!!

Re: hand cancelling question
I would personally make them stand there and do it, you have every right to make them do right then....after the line you likely stand in and the cost of postage, the least they can do is their job! I asked to have ours done this way and they were not....they said they would do it 'later' and well, they did not.

Re: hand cancelling question
He maybe able to watch if they are not busy. I took mine today but my post office is small and there was no one there so he cancelled them in front of me.
I know you can't go when they are busy because they won't have the time to cancel them. The guy at the post office said a customer had mailed hers from a different post office although she asked them to hand cancel them they didn't ! So of course her invitations got messed up. Make sure they are not busy !!!!
I even offered to do it myself if he wasn't able to but he did them in front of me.

Re: hand cancelling question
I didn't, I just dropped them off and they assured me they would be out that day and they were.
