Hand Ceremony...help

If you did the hand ceremony at your wedding can you please post or fm me the wording you used. Also when is this done? Did you have a problem with having your priest do this (our monsignor is old school and when I mentioned it, he never heard of it).

Here are the words

These are the hands of your best friend. Young, strong, and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work along side yours, as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and that with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind
These are the hands that will, countless times, wipe the tears from your eyes. Tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.
These are the hands that will help you hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch

Thank you for this Jean....

Bride-, please face -Groom-and hold his hands, palms up, so that you may see the gift that they are to you.

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and vibrant with love, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as he promises to love you all the days of his life.

These are the hands that will work along yours, as together you build your future, as you laugh and cry, as you share your innermost secrets and dreams.

These are the hands that you will place with expectant joy against your stomach until he too feels his child stir within you.

These are the hands that look so large and strong, yet will be so gentle as he holds your baby for the first time.

These are the hands that will work long hours for you and your new family.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will comfort you in illness and hold you when fear or grief wrack your mind.

These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into his eyes, eyes that are completely filled with his overwhelming love and desire for you.

-Groom-, please hold -Brides- hands, palms up, so that you may see the gift that they are to you.

These are the hands of your best friend, smooth, young, and carefree that are holding yours on your wedding day, as she pledges her love and commitment to you all the days of her life.

These are the hands that will hold each child in tender love, soothing them through illness and hurt, supporting and encouraging them along the way, and knowing when its time to let go.

These are the hands that will massage tension from your neck and back in the evenings after you’ve both had a long hard day.

These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times.

These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times.

These are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick or console you when you are grieving.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years for a lifetime of happiness.

These are the hands that will hold you in joy and excitement and hope, each time she tells you that you are to have another child, that together you have created a new life.

These are the hands that will give you support as she encourages you to chase down your dreams. Together as a team, everything you wish can be realized.

Officiant:

God, bless these hands that you see before you this day. May they always be held by one another. Give them the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment. Keep them tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their wondrous love. Help these hands to continue building a relationship founded in your grace, rich in caring and devoted in reaching for your perfection.

May -Bride- and -Groom- see their four hands as healer, protector, shelter and guide. We ask this in your name.

Re: Hand Ceremony...help

We did ours after the vows and exchange of rings before the unity candle.
Our officiant was once a RC Priest....he was very familiar with it and VERY excited to do it at our ceremony.
Here's one of my favorite shots...it was during the hand ceremony...

Re: Hand Ceremony...help

We did it before our vows.

We edited it a bit since we aren't having kids. This was our version:

[OFFICIANT] With our hands, we make and affect the things that surround us and shape our lives. They can be considered a representation of who we are through what we choose to do. In any relationship, our actions speak volumes. Words are not enough to bind two people together. Their actions and, thus, their hands, bind them together as well.

Bride, please face Groom and hold his hands, palms up, so you may see the gift that they are to you.

These hands you hold on your wedding day are the hands of your best friend, tender and sincere with love.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future, as you laugh and cry, and as you share you innermost secrets and dreams.

These are the hands that will wipe the tears of sorrow, laughter and joy from your eyes.

These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when you are grieving.

These are the hands that will love and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness, as he promises his love and commitment to you, all the days of his life.

[OFFICIANT] Groom, please face Bride and hold her hands, palms up, so you may see the gift that they are to you.

These hands you hold on your wedding day are the hands of your best friend, tender and sincere with love.

These are the hands that will give you support as you both chase your dreams. Together as a team, everything you wish for can be realized.

These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times and cherish the joyous times.

These are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick and console you when you are grieving.

These are the hands that will love and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness, as she promises her love and commitment to you, all the days of her life.

[OFFICIANT] Please join hands. May the spirit of love and life bless these hands. May they always be held by one another. Give them the strength to hold on during difficult times, and keep them tender and gentle as nurture each other in Bride and Groom's love. Help these hands to continue building a relationship rich in caring and devotion.

Cindy, I have seen this done at weddings in lieu of the unity candle. So, it would be before the offertory (if you're having a Mass) and after vows.

This is the one we're using, but we're also adding on a blessing:
Dear Father, bless the hands that you see before you this day. May they always be held by one another. Give them the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment. Keep them tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their love. Help these hands to continue building a relationship founded in your grace, rich in caring, and devoted to reaching for your perfection.
