Okay, so has anyone ever heard of the 'hand ceremony'. Basically, it is a point in the wedding where the bride and groom face eachother and look at eachothers hands, face up. The officiant recites a poem:
'These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind.
These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and as in today, tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children, the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch'
OMG - I have tears in my eyes and I am so using this. Probably right before the ring exchange.
There are other longer versions, but this one is perfect for FH and I

They read this during the mass at the end of my Pre-Cana weekend...it was beautiful.
FH gets very giggly when he's trying not to show emotion. I'm sure everyone there thought he was crazy!!!!

Yep, I did that already. That's how I know I want it at my wedding.
Just not sure if we do it before or after the rings. After the rings I thought we would exchange roses as our first gift towards eachother as husband and wife.

Oh wow, I didn't know alot of people knew about this. I just stumbled upon it today and fell in love with it.
Those of you doing it - are you going to do it separately, like he holds your hands then you hold his, or at the same time like the poem above?
I like doing it at the same time!

I would prefer doing it both at the same time.

I think since you are facing eachother and holding hands, it would segway nicely if you do it before or after the rings. You can have your officiant say something about looking at the back of the hand for the ring but it is the palm of the hand that is more important......

Personally, I think I'd like to do it leading into the exchange of the rings. Then again, after would work.
