Hand stamping...

Hand stamping...

I was just wondering if there was anyone who did NOT handstamp their envelopes (invitations) and if so, how did they come out? I want to get my invites out this week but I don't know if I will have the time to stand in the post office and stamp them all myself. Also, will every post office allow you to do this?

I went to the post office in Garden City and they did the hand stamping for me.

I mailed one to see what it would look like...
I Do Not recommend it.
It looked like it went into the machine 3 times and had a black tire mark on the stamp and it was bent. I spent $1000 for this.
I dropped them off at the post office and they hand canceled them.. They look much better

My FSIL just sent her's out through the mail (no hand stamping) and they came out great. When I got mine, there were no marks and nothing was bent.

The lady at the post office did the hand stamping for me. Just ask them. They are usually more than happy to do so.

I handstamped my own and they fed them throught the stupid machine anyway. Handstamping is no guarantee. Mine got tortured!

ditto - same thing happened to me. My mom hand stamped every one... then they sent them through the machiene.

I was so pissed and went down there to get the guy who did it. He blamed it on another post office. I didn't have solid evidence - so there was nothing I could do.

Mine got mangled IMO - but no one else really noticed.

i didn't hand stamp mine, and they came out fine.... i think that even if they don't go throught the machine, they still have to get passed around to several different post offices and sorting centers to get where they're going... so no matter what, there's still a risk of something getting bent or marked... to me it was one of the wedding things i just had to let go and not try to make perfect

Ours came out fine w/o the hand stamping, no probs at all (that we know of). I researched which POs (near us in VA) would either do or allow us to do handstamping but when we got there they said no, I wasn't in the mood to go searching for another PO so we just sent them....it was fine!

i asked the PO if i could hand stamp them and the woman said no but someone there would do it for me. i was really nervous she was just yesing me to death, I had the wax seal on the back and didnt want them to be trashed. the woman at the PO also said that since they were square they couldnt go through the machine anyway, well i sent them friday, soooooo many people got them sat because we got so many calls and they all told me on sunday at my shower!!! they said the envelopes were perfect, wax seal and all!!

I sent mine out from two post offices (one in the city, one in Rockville Centre) and both places told me that i had to do it myself and they wouldn't do it for me.
It honestly only took me about 5 min. to do 127 of them so i wouldn't worry about the time.
