Can anyone recommend a fully accessible catering hall? My father is paralyzed and relies on a wheelchair for mobility. I want this day to be comfortable and enjoyable for him, so I am looking for a place with plenty of space for him to be able to maneuver, as well as a bathroom that will allow for plenty of space and privacy, as he needs full assistance - a bridal suite on the same floor as the reception, perhaps? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Handicapped accessible reception site?
I have to say that the majority of the RH's we looked at were handicapped accessible.
I know Crest Hollow definitely is (my RH) I was also checking this out b/c my Grandmother is wheelchair bound.
We looked at
Westbury Manor Jericho Terrace (no elevator but had ramps) Crest Hollow
HTH and good luck!

North Ritz Club would work out for your Dad. Plus its beautiful there and the food is Delish!!
CH Room and Recp are both on ground level. Bathrooms are downstairs but theres an elevator that he can use.

I know that Chateau Briand is handicapped accessible. They have bathrooms on each level and an elevator.

Many RHs nowadays are modern enough to be handicap accessible. I think the only ones you'd have to worry about would be the old mansion types.
Stonebridge has the bridal suite upstairs but there's an elevator so your dad could use that.

Re: Handicapped accessible reception site?
I also had to find a place for the reception that was wheelchair accessible for my Mom who has MS. I ended up going with a restaurant, just because I wanted that intimate kind of feel. I am sure that most reception halls are wheelchair accessible. It should be the first thing you ask on the phone before you even look at at place.
Good Luck!

Re: Handicapped accessible reception site?
I got married at the Royalton, and they had a privated handicap bathroom downstairs as well as one of those chair lifts attached to go up the staircase (the only reason to go up the staircase would be to go to the Bridal Suite, everything else is downstairs).

Re: Handicapped accessible reception site?
Thanks so much for all of your suggestions! I know many places claim to be 'handicapped accessible', but I guess the only way I will know for sure if they will work out is when I actually go looking. Thanks for all of your input!

Yes, it definitely is!
My mother taught at the Henry Viscardi School (at the National Center for Disability) for years and Chateau Briand donated their prom for the high schoolers every year!

Re: Handicapped accessible reception site?
I agree: just about all places that I looked at were (have a couple wheelchair attendees). We booked at Carltun. It has an elevator.
