Happy Friday QOTD

Good morning. Happy Friday!!! I can't believe how fast this week is going? Here is today's question...

What was the first wedding related thing you did after you got engaged? How long did you enjoy being engaged before you did it?

Looked at reception halls... and we did it about a week later.

the first wedding related thing we did was the meeting with the Deacon of the church that we wanted to secure our date.

Oh and we did that about a week and half after we got engaged. I was ready to start planning!

We got engaged Friday night, one year ago tomorrow.

Sunday I had stopped at CVS and bought 3 wedding magazines.

By Wednesday we were looking at Reception Halls. I know, really fast... but we were supposed to have gotten engaged the summer before, until FH's dad got sick. I wanted to be an 08 bride. So there was no way I was going to chance it that we couldn't get married this summer and where we wanted. I was 90% sure I wanted Lands End so we went right there. Then we looked a few more before we booked. By Sunday I had booked the RH.

Although we had some trouble with our wedding date after that so it actually took three weeks before we knew the date for sure. Theay after we finalized the date we booked the band.

Yeah, we looked at reception halls together about two-three weeks later, and booked within 48 hours of starting the search.

We got engaged on Valentine's Day...we were on a cruise so I had to wait til we hit land again lol. Went to buy wedding magazines right away, and we had our hall booked by March.

Engaged June 30th, booked RH July 6th.

decided on around what date we wanted to get married, umm and i think that was that night!! haha!
Then went dress shopping about a week after!

We started looking at halls about 4 months after we were engaged. We were busy moving into our apartment and all of that jazz before that. But we had originally planned an April 2010 wedding ... until one night we decided we didn't feel like waiting that long ... so at the end of August we started looking at RHs, and the rest is history!

First thing I did was ask people to be in the wedding ( BIG MISTAKE) should have thought this out more carefully ....

next thing I did was find a venue.

I literally started planning the minute I said yes.

We consciously made the decision NOT to do anything wedding related for a little bit and just decided to enjoy being engaged.

We got engaged 7/19 (on a Saturday). By the end of August, we made two guest lists. One for a small destination wedding and one for a big blow-out wedding (the blow-out wedding won). Then mid September we looked at RHs and booked the date by the end of September.

Don't worry, I waited 3 months and thought long and hard, I still wish I could change it.

Looked at places to get married. We waited a whopping 5 days before we looked at the first place! I was excited and just wanted to lock in a date.

We got engaged this January and knew we wanted to get married in the summer this year so we didn't really have the luxury of time... but it's ok. It's been really fun planning on a shorter timeline.

The first thing I did that day was call my parents and my grandfather. The next day we went to see my grandmother who was living in an assisted living home at the time (she passed away a month later, this February). I'm really glad we got to tell her.

Then by a week later, we went and booked our RH. We looked at one place and loved it and that was that. I dropped FH at the airport the Sunday after (9 days after we got engaged) and on my way back to my place stopped at a girl's home in Brooklyn and bought my dress from her from craig's list. So I had a dress within 9 days of the proposal. It was awesome.

I think the first thing we did was book the RH. Even though it was a year and a half in advance, we didnt want the place we picked to be booked on our date. We waited a few months before booking it, and just enjoyed being engaged, and gave me time to enjoyt the big rock on my finger lol

I bought planning books. FH wanted to wait like 3 or 4 months before we started doing anything. Clearly, that didn't happen, and clearly, he's still holding a grudge over it lol. The first real thing I did was look at dresses, I think I started preliminary shop visits before the RH even. But we started looking at RHs I would say 3 weeks after we got engaged, and booked one a month and a half after. We move like a heard of turtles lol.
