I haven't seen the Harbor Club, but we went to look at Thatched Cottage and had a really bad first experience there. But we might have just caught them on an off-night.

We considered the Harbor Club but ultimately decided on the Thatched Cottage. The tasting totally won us over. Aside from the previous poster I havent heard anything bad about them. The harbor club was nice but we werent crazy about the room.
ETA: actually I take that back. I reread the other post and we had a bad first experience at the thatched cottage too. Tonianne was late and not the most professional. Our tasting was with a different person and went much smoother.

I saw both the Harbor Club and the Thatched Cottage also. IMO the food at the Thatched Cottage blew the Harbor Club away and they were giving us so much more for our money.
We didn't have a bad experience at all, but I've never dealt with Toniann who seems to have gotten some negative reviews on here. Our BM is Andre and he has been absolutely AMAZING to work with.

Yea, I agree that the Thatched Cottage Menu is so much more than what the Harbor Club is giving you(Especially the CH). FH doesn't really care for the downstairs room at the Harbor Club either.
But as what you said, we met with Toniann, who wasn't bad, but was just very to the point and not very welcoming.
To be honest, I think I like more about teh Thatched Cottage...but I still just love the Harbor Club, which gives me that feeling.
I tried rreading tons of the reviews, all of which seem great for both! Decisions!

We chose the Thatched Cottage, but we never looked at the Harbor Club. Toniann is our BM. She was nice to us for the most part. I have to say Andre is just the best, though. We did our tasting with him. Overall, we love the view and the food. We feel that we are getting a lot for our money.

I didnt book either one but looked at them both. I would definitely say the Thatched Cottage over the Harbor Club. I dont think there is a comparison IMO.

The Harbor Club. My wedding was amazing. They gave us soo much food and everyone is still raving about it. I cannot say enough good things about them. The view is awesome and the staff is simply wonderful.
We looked at the Thached Cottage and was turned off by our food tasting experience. In my opinion, the food was 100000 times better at the Harbor Club.

My parents and two sets of aunts and uncles got married at the Thatched Cottage, so for sentimental reasons I considered them, but I went with Harbor Club!
Perhaps what I chose and/or added made the difference, but we had so much incredible food and our guests were raving for weeks after about how much there was and how great it was, that I am honestly surprised people on here were disappointed by the food.
Check out my review - I highly recommend the Harbor Club!

I've never been to the Harbor Club but, we love The Thatched Cottage! Our food tasting was great and so far we've had a good experience with them. The newly renovated Tuscany cocktail room sold us, as well as the view, and all the food you get

I have never been to the thatched cottage. it looks really nice the few times i've passed it though. i had my wedding at the harbor club in october and i honestly can't say enough nice things about them!!
the food was GREAT and I definitely thought there was more than enough of it! people are still talking about the food and the waitstaff. everyone loved the waiters at their tables. the bridal attendant and maitre'd couldn't do enough for me and DH throughout the night. There was always food waiting for us, being kept warm, always a new drink before we finished the last one. they gave us food to take home at the end of the night, especially since we didn't get to sample everything. matt was so easy to work with through the planning process as well. i know the room isn't the biggest or the prettiest and that was something i thought about as well before i booked. in the end it didn't matter to me or my guests what the room looked like. the food and service were excellent, the music kept everyone moving and everyone was able to enjoy the view as well.
also ask what other things they can throw in before you book. we got a few things added and even got a discount if we booked within the week. i thought the price was more than reasonable for the amount that we got. if you have anymore questions, please feel free to FM! good luck!!

I looked at HC but went as a guest to the TC and I suggest the TC for the facility and the food was good too

You sould also look into the Sans Souci in Sea Cliff, They only have one wedding at a time overlooking the long island sound, also the food is better than both the Harbor club and Thatched cottage. This is the link to the web-site sanssouci.us Good Luck

I looked at both. Having an outdoor wedding on the water was really important to me. I fell in love with the grounds at the Thatched Cottage. We were so lucky with the weather, and I had the beautiful outdoor waterfront ceremony I imagined. Guests told me that it was the best cocktail hour they ever had, and many told me they forgot they were in NY. I really liked Harbor Club too, but I thought the grounds and Menu at TC were spectacular. ToniAnn was a pleasure to work with, I'm sorry others had bad experiences with her. Yes, they do tend to run late a lot. That was really the only bad thing, but we were late sometimes too -- it wasn't a huge deal for me. I honestly don't think you can go wrong - revist both, have tastings, and go with your gut.
