does anyone know a trick to getting the shell off easily? My mom and I and soooo annoyed. We are trying to make deviled eggs and they are all ruined! We have to boil another batch. Any tips?

Wait, why whats going on? the egg is breaking apart when you take the shell off? what i do is i take the eggs out of the pot and then i run it under cold water for a little bit and this way its easier to take it off for me

To me it depends on how long you boil the egg for. When I make hard boiled eggs, I prick the bottom fat end (lets air get between the shell and the egg) put the eggs in cold water, let it come to a rolling boil, as soon as it does turn it off and cover the pot and let it stand for 10-12 minutes. as soon as the time is up dump the water and run them under cold water until cool. then peel under cold running water. It usually works for me. Good luck! That is frustrating.
ETA: by turning off the eggs after the water starts to boil and letting it sit it cooks more gently and wont give the yolks the green ring around it. I also crack the egg all over the shell, not just 1 spot and roll the egg on the counter then peel under running water.

leave it for a bit under cold water, longer than it took for you to respond hahaha.

I do the same.
Also, make sure you cook it long enough. Put the eggs into the water, THEN boil. Boil for at least 10 minutes, then run under cold water so the yolks won't turn gray.
Then I usually just roll the egg on the counter to break the shell a bit. When you're taking off the shell, it's easier if you get the albumin (the layer underneath the shell) and then the shell will just peel right off.

yup i start from the bottom of the egg too, over there its good to start bc theres a small part where theres space between shell and the egg, did that make sense?

Re: hard boiled egg help
i've read that if you add a lot of salt to the water--it helps the shell come off easier. i have no idea how---but i saw that in a deviled egg recipe.

if that is what is happening, then they are soft boiled and not hard boiled
boil them for at least 10 minutes, run under cold water gently crack shell and peel
should work fine
