Hardwood Flooring. Need Recommendation, please

Hi girls,

Last night my Dh and I decided to pull up our carpets, spur of the moment! :)

Anyway, after doing that and seeing what beautiful wood lie underneath, we have decided to keep them bare and have them refinished.

Can any of you recommend a great company that is not to expensive and who doesn't make a total mess. We have just heard some horror stories about DUST!

Also, what is the going price. I have called a few places and I got as low as $1.20 a sq. foot to $2.25 a sq. foot.

Someone please help!

You can call Hunter Insulation/Hunter Hardwood Flooring. They are reasonable and do a good job. Where are you located? Are you in Nassau or Suffolk? Their # is 631.283.4120.

When you refinish your floors- it does get pretty dusty. The best thing to do is move your furniture elsewhere (in non hardwood floor rooms) and cover everything up with plastic.

Re-finishing floors is like sanding down sheetrock. Extremely dusty. Tape off windows and doorways with plastic sheeting and that blue low tack tape (use layers of tape and you'll be fine). After it is polyurethaned go in and clen down walls and ceilings with a damp mop and you are good to go. Using these methods will remedy nearly all of the dust problems. It is a small price to pay for hardwood flooring!
