The ballroom is pretty-- but it is an odd shape- with one half being circular, the other a rectangle. Also, when we looked at it-- the told us the band would kinda be in another room.

I have never been to a wedding there, but we looked at it for ours.. I hear they do tented receptions outside-- the grounds are really beautiful.

well i went there and thought it was beautiful!
Since it was an old mansion, the rooms are split up and that is a little strange for seating.
I went there without an appointment and walked around. I left my name and # for someone to call me back for pricing, and they never did! I called again and they never called me back again!
SO i moved on.
FYI, my friend just got married on Sunday at the Woodlands in Woodbury, also an old mansion and I loved it!!
you might want to check them out as well.

I looked there as well. I agree with Randella - the ballroom is pretty, but I didn't like the shape of the rooms. If you have over a certain amount of people they have to sit in a different room.

On the flip side, I love the upstairs where you can have an after party and the grounds are really pretty.

It was my third choice. I would love to go to a wedding there!!

Good Luck!

We are having our reception there so please fm if you have any questions. The ballroom really is not as bad as the boards have said in the past. You actually put an equal number of tables on each side of the dance floor and a bride that is getting married in September went and said that no matter where you sit, from all angles, you're able to see the dancefloor. I would go and set up an appt. with Carmella since they;ve done a lot of renovations that are just beautiful. Let me know if I can help!

Re: harrison house help

I'm getting married at the Harrison House in 2 months. I agree w/ JimmysGirl above about the shape of the room. It is a bit oddly shaped, but no matter where you sit everybody can see the dance floor perfectly. I know, b/c when I was there last the room was set up for an event, and I sat at all of the tables that seemed like they might be too far. If, however, you pack the room w/ too many people it obviously gets much tighter and harder to see. On that note, I've been in the most symmetrical of ballrooms, and when you jam too many people in it doesn't matter what shape the room is- it's just uncomfortable and hard to see.

FM me if you have any add'l questions. We picked our menu last month, and we go for our tasting at the beginning of August to make sure we like everything.

You really need to check out the ballroom for yourself. IMO after reading the boards I thought the room would be horribly misshaped, but it was fine for me. The grounds are gorgeous, the entrance is grand, all your guest can stay there, they have a bar, tennis courts, pool, etc. I am having all my guests stay here the night before and of my wedding.

The coctail hour outside would have been beautiful, but I was afraid of bad weather and wasn't too crazy about the coctail hour inside in 3 different rooms..the main ballroom was a little oddly designed. The bride and groom sat next to the band/dj on the dance floor kinda its hard to describe

The reason to go with them is the outdoor cocktail hour which is amazing and the after hours pub party. the ballroom is unusual and probably the least nice feature about the whole place, but it's ok. But the selling point is definitely not the ballroom. You'll just have to decide for yourself. It was definitely one of the best, if not the best wedding we ever went to!
