I'm sure it's a scam - those calls usually are. Do not volunteer any info!

Re: Has anyone...
They are not asking for info. They just want us to come to pick up our prize at one of the shows

I got that once. They said I had to go and see a kitchenware demonstration, with no requirement to buy and then I'd get a 3 night stay somewhere. there were so many blackout dates --- any time a teacher would be off were blackout dates, so we never bothered. I think it is real, but you have to sit through a lot of crap and be flexible with travel dates.

Re: Has anyone...
Once your start planning a wedding EVERYONE seems to know it. It's not so much a scam as much as it is a sales pitch. When I first got engaged I went to a bridal expo and from that point on I started receiving all sorts of calls. We were told that we won a free vacation at our choice of one out a few destinations. We had to end up sitting through an hour presentation for pots and china(they were really nice but expensive) but we did not purchase any. We were however given our voucher for the free trip. Unfortunately we did not to get to use it and it expired but one of my friends at work went to the exact same thing a few weeks after me and they actually used theirs for a valentines weekend. I think it only covered the hotel though but it was legit. Like I said they'll probably try to get you to purchase something but if it's like the one I went to, they will give you a voucher for a free trip so in that sense it's not really a scam if they give you what they promised.
Also, I agree with pp DO NOT give them any personal info. We did not have to accept our names and address I believe but definitely not any social security numbers or bank or credit card info.

Thank you all. I guess its like when you go to Florida and they make you sit through a time share pitch to get tix to Disney. FH has no patience for things like that . I dont think we will go.

It's usually a sales thing. You have to sit through a presentation, they practically cut your fingers off one buy one until you break down and buy merchandise (OK, that's not true, but it is pretty hardcore selling) and then you can go on your vacay. I don't think it's worth it.

Re: Has anyone...
i have had two or three of these phone calls. so annoying. i think they snagged my info a bridal expo my mother dragged me to. they went on and on. it is such a scam. i mentioned it in front of FFIL and he flipped out he hates scams, so i think he handled that one. it is so sad that ppl try to make money off of ppl who are getting married.
