is it do-able?

i went to one wedding where they did this - i think they had roughly 150.
we were in a park, so the photog was able to stand on a hill. but, my guess is that the bigger you get, the harder it is, and the more fuzzy the pic.

I was say it's doable if it's outside the church (although all your guests may not be at the church). A lot of the times - if you want the shot - the photograoher will ask everyone to gather around with the bride and groom in the front of the shot and then he/she will stand on like a ladder or something and get a shot with all your guests.

i think it depends on how many guests are there... were inviting almost 350 people so even if 250 actually come i dont think its possible...
my sister got a big group shot at church with everyone that came to the ceremony

we'll have around 130 people (inviting 150) ... and the ceremony is at the RH so all the guests should hopefully be there
i really hope it works out because i really love those pictures

We did that. I don't have that pic online, but it came out really well. We had close to 170 guests.

we did it at the church (granted we didnt have all 130 guests w/ us - prob 100) Here are a few pics to show you what I mean

I went to a wedding where this was done, in Vermont. We took it from outside and the photographer stood above us on a balcony. The couple sent the picture along with a picture of them in their thank you cards (sent over a year later, but that's beside the point ... )

I think it's do-able. Make sure your photographer has a wide angle or fish eye lens. :)

i think it's doable.. but it would have to be taken from an aerial point of view.... sort of like how the pictures were taken back when we had yearbooks.

we did it at my graduation party.. the DJ announced he'd like to have everyone up and take a picture... we got EVERYONE... and I had close to 60 people there. I'd imagine you'd be able to get all your guests...

i've done this first hand. you can do it. your photographer needs a nice tall ladder to get a decent one. the downside of this is, there is no possible way to see everyone's face and depending if its indoors or out, your lighting isn't even so some people get shadowed over and such. outdoors is better. definitely talk it over with the photographer and let the dj know. they should take care of this behind the scenes but they dj has a better chance of organizing it than the photographer. most guests just think they're being annoying.

It didn't take too long. We did it towards the end of the CH. We had everyone stand behind us on the deck and the photographer was standing above everyone on a staircase.
Our CH was inside and outside, so the RH staff just went through the inside part and shooed everyone outside. It actually helped get everyone to leave the CH to go to the ballroom right after that so we didn't have to wait forever for the bridal party to be announced.
Our pro pics are on collages.net. The group picture is number 727 in the Reception section.
I'll eventually edit this to take the password info out, but if you want to see it, the username is Maiorino and the password is 13186.

My sister did it and while you can't possibly see everyone, it's nice to have! She did it at the church, so everyone isn't in it...only the people who came to the ceremony.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to try to do it at least at the church. Would be nice to have one at the RH as well, but I just don't think it's feasible (I have 175 guests).

FBIL and SIL did this at their wedding...kinda...took two pics, one with brides side, one with grooms side. They did this at Fox Hollow, in the room where their reception was. I would say they had about 160 at their wedding.

If you're really set on this, go for it. I will say though, I went to a wedding where this was done (inside) and everyone found it to be pretty annoying. There were some people who didn't even get up from their seats (I thought that was pretty rude). It definitely broke up the party and the guests didn't love it BUT if you really want the pic, then don't worry about it, it's your wedding and there's only one chance to get that pic. I would just try to make sure it's done as quickly as possible so people can get back to the party!
