Re: has anyone been to a wedding at the Metropolitan?
My mom said it was a little dingy- she just went to something there- said the bar was all knicked up and the acoustics in the room stunk.. said all you heard was echo of conversation.

I went to a wedding there. But it was the second marraiges of both the bride & groom. So it was not formal. The room for the reception was in a totally different room from the bar. The ONLY reason why I didn't like that was because most of the guests, including me, spent our time at the bar. We missed the cake cutting, the dances, etc. The dance floor was small and the room DOES not hold a lot of people. The cocktail hour was pretty good, BUT you can get a lot more for a lot less. Was it an elegant place, definately!!! If she is not looking for a SUPER formal wedding, then I would suggest there. It is very pricey. This is JMHO!

If they like the nightclub atmostphere for their wedding, they'll love it....

thanks for the feedback...i just was looking at their website and i noticed the room has 2 floors...somehow that seems odd for a wedding - half the guests on another floor??

dkga, tell your friend to check it out. I don't think it's very formal. Are they having an e-party, I think it's a lovely place for that. However, it is expensive. I don't think that you really get what you are paying for. But the worse that can happen is that she doesn't like it. Tell her not to rule it out on our opinions only. It may be the type of venue she's looking for.
