I've been meaning to pick up a book on NZ since I know nothing about the country. I'll let you know what I learn...

(its great for windurfing / kite surfing )

Re: has anyone been to Australia? or south pacific?

I'm taking kiting lessons when we go to Hawaii in a few weeks (that reminds me I need to set that up)!

We don't go back to NY for Thanksgiving. Too much hassle considering we're back a few weeks later for Christmas. We don't have any set plans - every year we've done something different. Last year we were in Cabo.

Want to come to SF for Thanksgiving?

Re: has anyone been to Australia? or south pacific?

now for hotel/B&B availability...

You should plan for a day in SF too! You don't need THAT long in Napa Just mentioned it to Al and he's interested in meeting you two (especially after I told him about all our common interests: Lands End, kiting, Australia/NZ )

Would you fly or drive up?

Re: has anyone been to Australia? or south pacific?

perfect...those are exactly the kind of places that I was thinking of

I think driving might be a little nuts...although flying could be too, but getting through LA traffic is awful..

now...just tell me what you think is a better day to meet up...Thursday (I don't want to interrupt your t-giving - or invite myself...lol) or Saturday?

how did this become a SF/napa thread?

Re: has anyone been to Australia? or south pacific?

funny, I was thinking the same thing! both about hijacking the thread AND not inviting ourselves to your thanksgiving

but I think Thanksgiving together could be fun. So I'm up for it if you are. I love the idea of spending that night at a B&B, and then hitting up some wineries on the way home Friday.

I may have to work on Friday, but I'll probably have given notice at that point so I'm not really worried about that...

it would be a LONG drive for you!

Re: has anyone been to Australia? or south pacific?

Erica, most of my family is in Melbourne. (Victoria).
Theyve been there for generations.
When my mom came here 35years ago, it seems the family and neighbors from the towns chose either America or Australia..

Let me know what type of info you want. they vacation all around aussie-land
