I haven't personally but my MOH went there for her honeymoon. She stayed at 'Secrets' and said that the whole experience was wonderful. It is all inclusive and they have lots of activities.
i've been there several times. its beautiful depending where you go, but since they recommend not leaving the resort you do get bored after the first 3 days.

My friend and his wife are actually there right now! They are coming back on Sunday so I will let you know how they say everything was.
My parents have been there a few times and they love it!! we are looking into it for our honeymoon!!

Punta Cana is great but mind you if you go there be prepared to relax and do nothing, there is not much to see... we went on a day trip to Santo Domingo, but it is far about 3 hours on the bus... anyways, I am sure you would have a great time there...
we stayed at secrets too. it was nice, not too impressed with the food, and there is a lot of lounging on the beach. some water sports. it's great for a realxing no stress vaca. we stayed 7 night-I think 5-6 nights is enough though, jmo. by the 5th night I couldn't wait to be back in the USA
