yes I have been there...MY DH and his family is from Madrid...his aunts and grandmother still live there...so we have visited them a few times and went on our HM to Barcelona...Menorca...Toledo...and Valdepenas (in addition to Madrid of course)


I have never done Southern Spain...but I hear that it blows everywhere away...and I thought all the parts I have been have been fantastic...

I also spent 2 weeks there on my honeymoon. We were in Madrid, Sevilla, Granada and Marbella (on the southern coast).

Thanks girls! I'm in the process of planning a trip to Northern Spain for August with three of my girlfriends- i'll definitely FM questions when I do a little more research.

if you are doing northern Spain...BARCELONA is a must...I loved it...even though we were suffering through the upper 90s and humidity!!

(Madrid is dryer)

I loved Barcelona - so pretty. Madrid was nice, but too much like a regular city. I've never been, but I heard that the Costa del Sol is beautiful.

I went with my best friend and we stayed in Madrid and Barcelona....we had the BEST time, but we liked Madrid better....

Most people are shocked when I say that, but we just had a better time in Madrid....
(Of course this is when we were both single ) lol!

I went to spain We went to Madrid, Granada , Sevilla and Costa Del Sol.

I wiwsh we would have went to Barcelona but it didn't fit into our schedule.

Costa Del sol is great if you want the beach type of vacation. It was fun.

I went about 5 years ago with one of my girlfriends.

I agree there are tons of places that are 'regular' ...but I loved hanging out eating tapas at the Plaza Mayor...right where Hemingway would eat and drink...

DH's grandmother also took us on a walking tour and showed us some great things...but I guess being a native helps....

but theres the Prado (rivals the Lourve)...the Royal Palace...the huge park (DH calls it the English garden...and would spend everyday in the summer there...but I don't think thats what its called...)
