Has anyone decided at the last minute to...

change vendors???

I have a particular vendor booked who I am happy with, but came across a different one that I am in love with. I already put a $500 deposit down on the first one, do you think I should just eat that $500 and go with the one I love???

FH is NOT thrilled about this... I was not prepared to feel like this, but I feel like I really want this other vendor....

Has anyone ever been in this situation??? If so, HELP!

I have less than 5 months to go, is this normal?!

Also, how do I go about cancelling the first, I would just feel awful

Check to see if it is refundable. What kind of vendor is it, photo, dj? Sometimes it is refundable. Are you going to save money on the other vendor or spend more. If you spend more, can you afford more money plus the $500 if you lose it?

is the other vendor worth his price...plus $500 in case you can't get it back?

but in oct...i think they might be able to rebook...

Hi, I actually have not even researched the other vendor yet, because I wanted to get some thoughts on this. So I'm not sure if I will save money or not... that's actually something I brought up to FH in order for him to give me the okay - hehe. He still has yet to do that...

I don't want to say which vendor because the one I chose is a very good and reputable company and I don't want people to think I had a problem or didn't like them... I just simply changed my mind...

I changed my band and my limo company. My band I changed months before the wedding to Milestone and it was the best decision. The Limo I changed the week OF my wedding and again, a much better decision.
Go with your gut and lose the $500! OR better yet discuss this with the new vendor and let them know you are losing the $$. They may give you something in return.

Hmmmmm.... interesting.... I never thought of mentioning losing money to the new vendor.

Michele, did you feel any guilt for changing vendors. I have this problem with guilt, I always feel that if I change my mind, I'm screwing someone!! Was it easy for you to make a phone call and cancel?

Lauren, dont' feel guilty for changing your mind. You're a bride and a customer and the deposit acts as a 'guilt' waiver especially if they don't return it to you. And 5 months in advance is enough notice for them. Many people do weddings on short notice so someone will take your place.

if you have doubts - it may be for a reason - so do what you feel comfortable with!!
