I am defending this week and am freaking out. Does anyone have any advice (other than to relax)? What exactly happened during the defense? I am the fifth person to graduate out of my class so I don't have many people to give me advice.

I haven't yet, but I was in the audience for some that related to my topic. The person presented, the panel asked questions, then sent the person out for a while and they discussed the dissertation...They then called the person back into the room and told them the passed. I heard that if you don't pass they send someone out to tell you in the hall (in my program at least). I know I am going to be so nervous while waiting out there!
