Re: Has anyone eaten at NOBU in the city?
Nobu is the ultimate sushi paradise. (I'm assuming your FH likes sushi?) It would be a really nice treat for his 30th bday. Bring lots of $$ or your credit card and splurge! It's definitely worth it.

I never been although my boss would go often. It is quite expensive but top notch

I have been there several times... I love it!!! My FI and I usually get the chef's tasting menu-- you don't know what is on it until they serve it and it changes every night... it is 7 courses and there are different price ranges to choose from.. we have done both the $85 pp and the $100 pp.. both times we also had drinks ( get the Lychee martini!! ) so the bill was usually about $300 for 2 of us... totally worth it, a great dining experience!! Regular entrees are much less in cost.
I have also been to Nobu Next Door (literally, next door) which is the same menu but in my opinion, a better atmosphere!
Nobu requires you call one month to the day before you want to go (they won't make a reservation sooner, but they will make it later if available)... the receptionists can sometimes be snotty... Next Door I don't think takes reservations at all.
I'm not a sushi fan...but have endured many sushi restaurants since DH is a huge sushi eater...
and we both like Japonica better...the prices and quality are about the same...but Japonica is without the attitude...they don't take reservations, so the posh-posh don't go there (Howard Stern has even said this)

I haven't been there yet (but plan on going in the near future). My BF went a few months ago and said it was BY FAR the best sushi she's ever eaten.

I've been to Nobu next door on a Sunday evening around 6 pm and were seated right away. I know they don't take reservations, but Nobu does. The food at Nobu next door was excellent! I imagine the food at Nobu is just as good, if not better.

I am taking my DH there for his birthday in a few weeks. Getting reservations was tough! I had to call one month to the day in advance, between the hours of 10 and 5. I started calling at 10, didn't get through until 12, and then they only had two spots left! Luckily I snagged one... so I'll give you all a full report when the time comes! We're so excited... and from what other ladies have said, it sounds like it will be a great time!
