Re: Has anyone else contemplated NOT having a BP?
We did, but then I decided I wanted a wedding party. Right now only my MOH is picked... we're going to revisit the situation come January 2009.

That sounds like a plan...it;s just sooo difficult! I want to avoid all of the Politics, but at the same time, want the action! LOL FH is no help...he just goes with the flow!

I think we've decided MOH / Bestman / 1 bridesmaid / 1 groomsman. Enough people to help me keep calm, not enough to cause crazy drama.

just take your time when choosing and choose wisely. Yes alot of ppl have problems with their bp but alot of ppl also ask their bp RIGHT AWAY after getting engaged. They say to wait a little while before doing so bc this way you get to see how your friends react to your engagement and if they even care lol. ALot of girls you'll see say they were so surprised how some friends acted and how they didn't care or were a pain to deal with. So i took that advice and waited to ask my bp.
I see alot of girls on here always saying that big bp=drama, but let me say that its not always true. MANY MANY girls on here that ive seen who had drama had a smaller bp than I did. I had 22 total in my bridal party and I can say that not one of them gave me a problem, there was never an issue. Even picking out the dress was the easiest thing. I went to Rk bridal and got there before all the girls, picked out about 15 dresses, we eliminated some right away when they got there, they tried on the few left and picked them out in about 30 mins. Even after one of my bm's emailed me and asked if i was 100% sure with the choice bc she has been in bridal parties and the process of getting a bm dress was never that easy and usually took a while and if i wanted to keep looking that they would. But i told them no i loved the choice and it was fine. Not once during the whole thing did i have a problem with anybody nor did they have problems with eachother. Before i picked my bp, every single one of them always asked me about my plans and always were excited and happy about it.
MOST of the girls on LIW that I saw had drama with their bp had a smaller bp than I did, so the whole bigger equals more drama is not true at all if you choose wisely.

Re: Has anyone else contemplated NOT having a BP?
my parents are totally against the whole bridal party idea. they feel a lot of people feel obligated to say yes. when i told them i am only asking my cousins, sister, & nieces for the girls they were happy. they feel that these people can be open & honest with me.

Re: Has anyone else contemplated NOT having a BP?
We are not having a BP because we just didn't want one. I do understand that drama can happen if the party is small or big, but knowing my family and the things that happen at my sister and brother weddings and not counting all the family reunion dramas, it just told me not to do it. I'm the middle of 7. My mom is the last girl of 10 and my dad was the last of 11. So I think all the ladies can understand for my peace of mind no BP. I have been in many BPs with or without drama and in the end they all turn out great. My family is special there just not a medical book or TV show to help us.

Re: Has anyone else contemplated NOT having a BP?
we're not having a huge bridal party - there are 4 girls and 4 boys, plus a jr BM and jr GM. all but 2 are family - the two aren't family have been around long enough that they should be family

Re: Has anyone else contemplated NOT having a BP?
I only wanted BM/MOH/rb/fg but fh has two best friends he grew up with and HAD to have in the BP lol and his brother and of course my brother would have to be in it too then...so I am having MOH and 3 BM's now lol So much for a smaller party!! of course nobody was asked yet, so it can all change

Re: Has anyone else contemplated NOT having a BP?
We decided against it. We wanted a small party but knew it wasn't possible. Decided against having an MOH or BM as well. Just easier for us and want everyone to just have fun. I'm sure there are some hurt feelings, but I think everyone who assumed they'd be asked understood. We are having my one brother as an officiant, and still waiting on an answer from my youngest brother on being a co-officiant.
