I am on the fence about this because I hate CB selections. I just want to know how they compensate you for the cost of the cake they provide.

Nope... I am so broke that I need every last thing they will give me!!!
but i wouldn't be surprised if CB works with outside bakeries anyway... maybe you can see what they'll cover cost-wise in terms of the cake and get it elsewhere with that money.

We are getting our cake from la bonne boulangerie in port jeff (aka Dortoni Bakery, for Nassau brides).
I've been coached on all things cakey, and can tell you what to look out for.... 1) frequently, they'll take days to decorate a cake, which means it tastes dry / a bit old on the big day.... Ask when they actually BAKE the cake... and whether or not they freeze portions during the decoration process. 2) are the ingredients all natural, or do they use mixes? 3) make sure you taste a sample, so you know you like it! 4) obviously, ask the cost... usually it goes according to cake size. Your reception hall may charge a $1-$2 per slice fee for cutting a cake that isn't their own... so don't forget to factor that expense into your budget...
We are REALLY happy with our choice....
