Has Anyone Else Ever Made Drastic Wedding Changes?

Has Anyone Else Ever Made Drastic Wedding Changes?

I'm supposed to have a wedding of 100-150 people at Leonard's. But now I think I'm going to make my wedding smaller and have 80 people at the most at a private room in a restaurant. I just realized I don't want to spend a lot of money because I'd rather we had the money to go towards a house. I'm also only going to have just the best man, MOH, 2 flowergirls and 2 ringbearers in bridal party. I think I will have the reception at Koenig's because the room is nice, and it's not as expensive per person. This is the room. http://www.koenigsrestaurant.com/banquet.html

Am I the only one who has decided a change like this mid-planning? I'm still 9 months away, but I really do feel relieved doing this. Especially since the money my parents give will cover the reception with a little money left over.

A few months ago I felt like I just wanted to cancel the whole wedding and have something small. I posted about it here and got advice from a lot of people. After discussing it with my FH and a lot of thinking we decided to keep the plans the way they were. I think I was just stressed out. But if that is what you really want then I say definately do it.

I mentioned the possibility to ask about the refund of the deposit, and they said it's refunded if the day is re-booked. I think that can pretty much happen b/c back in October, they were so booked up for 2004. I don't want to officially cancel until I'm booked with another place which should be this week.

If your parents are paying, I don't understand your problem...You want their money towards a house?

Leonard's may have a tough time filling that, I don't know many people who wait to the last minute to book their wedding. (Though you never know I guess)

It's 9 months away. I got engaged in July. If I would have had more money then, I wouldn't have waited more than a year for the wedding. I'm sure there's got to be some people who don't wait that long. It isn't as if it's 2 months away.

My parents' money will cover the reception if we do what we're deciding now. If we do it at Leonard's, it would only cover half the reception.

Hence, they're not paying for my wedding, they're giving us an amount towards our wedding.

Do whatever you feel you need to do. I know thats not the greatest/helpful advice i Could give you but thats all that I can say.

It's your day and you are the one that has to live with the decisions that you make about it. No matter how you do it, it will be special.

I have a question for you regarding Leonards, did u book or speak to them. Can you tell me a general price range. Right now I like them as well as the Floral Terrace and I am trying to get as much info on both that i can.

Some people postpone it a year or more in the middle of planning, so you're not alone.
I'm still thinking of changing my church, but I think I'm too scared to.

Lenoard's will prbably re-bokk your date.
I only booked my hall in December for October. ANd several friends of mienhad there weddinngs in less time . ( one was only 4 months!) FeliciaDA just booked hers for July.

The only problem is if Leonards has sucha reputation that that peopel won't even try for an early date, but I doubt that.

I'm keeping mine small, And I'm glad I did.

Have you done a lot of other things. Will they be affected?

ETA: The room looks nice & cozy-it still has a dance floor like a catering hall.
It will be fine.

No, I'm keeping the same day, so everything else I have stays the same. If the bridesmaids would have gotten their dresses already, I wouldn't have cut down the bridal party. But good thing we hadn't done that yet.

I have wanted to. FH and I had lots of conversations about how we wanted to mark the occasion. Initially we were going to celebrate with 30 or so people. Well, 178 guests later...(we are shooting for 100)

We weighed the pros and cons and also are looking into buying a house and starting a family in the next few years. We finally decided to have a bigger celebration, but only invest in the things that were most important to us (food and music). Everything else we cut back on.

Don't stress. Really take stock of your financial situation, short term and long term goals. I get really annoyed sometimes because I feel like everything is way overpriced for the quality of work, and just too damn expen$ive for simply one, ONE day! But a coworker of mine said to me the other day 'It's not just about the day, it's the entire transformation process...enjoy every minute of it...'

Yeah, I'm happy doing it small. As long as you got the people closest to you, and there's food and dancing, then I'm happy.

We know we don't have a lot of people to invite.. we are close to those we do know.

So we booked our hall based on the hall not so much the minimum. For us we just figure 100 ppl X the rate is just the basic cost. We feel we are paying for the hall, the food, the experience and the environment, not the per person value. The hall is our value and we're happy.

I went from a Fall bride.. autumn colors of Gold and pumpkin with cream accents. Leaf motifs, maple brown guest book with large branch/leaf impression and bamboo steamer/mexican mini blanket favors, candlebras with flowers as centerpieces. Girls dresses were off the shoulder short leaved full bottom floor length pumpkin color. They'd have fall color clutches and I'd have a mostly white cascade bo-k

To

Completely asian inspired, red and gold only as colors no white cake, no silver centerpieces, no flowers for centerpieces, chopsticks for favors, lanterns for centerpieces, Red cake filling and gold patterned guest book. Girls are wearing berry red halter A-line dresses. All of us are carrying bi color yellow to red roses and I'll only the slightest of white in my bo-k and NO cascading bo-k.

Kinda fun stirring things up.
