Has anyone else received 'solicitor' e-mails from LiWeddings vendors?
Last night I posted about my meeting with Spin Around Sound...
Today, I checked my personal e-mail account and I had an e-mail from another DJ company who first, complemented SAS then, added 'If you decide not to go with them, please consider us.' The e-mail was very friendly, so I do not want to say their name and bash them BUT...I'm a little upset that this vendor was able to/had the nerve to contact me via my personal e-mail account. Maybe I'm just being niave but, I had no idea that they could/or would do this! Has anyone else had this happen to them? It would be one thing if I posted on the vendor board looking for a DJ company, but all I did was post something on the brides side about my meeting with another DJ!
Am I overreacting?!!?!?

Are you sure these vendors aren't just using the forum mail option here? With this option, anyone can shoot someone an email and it's directed to your private address, but the sender can't view it.
maybe that happened? I've been on this board over over 1 1/2 yrs and haven't received any unsolicted info....

J&A, I got the EXACT same email. I am not sure what is going on with that. Is it the forum mail that they are talking about or not? -christy

I'm not sure if it's a forum e-mail that you are referring to, I have never received any e-mails from vendors before this either. I just think it's a little strange that vendors can send us e-mails regarding iformation that we DID NOT request. If this is the case, then I will refrain from posting about MY specific needs...Why would I want a mailbox full of e-mails from vendors that I do not plan on booking? Just my opinion!

About a couple of weeks ago I was receiving e-mails from LIWeddings vendors but it must have been because I registered for the contest. I e-mailed LIWeddings and they did something so that I wouldn't get e-mails in my personal account anymore. Send LIWeddings a forum mail. They will respond quickly.

How weird is this...I had a message on my answering machine last night...saying they were returning my call regarding my interest in a 'dixieland' band...I really feel like callin ghim back and....and asking them how they got my number...that they KNOW I didnt call them...It is so annoying.

I haven't gotten emails in my forum mail, but I get about 3 emails a day in my personal email account and phone calls at home. Everything from bands, invitations, to doves.
I find it very annoying. I registered for a contest here ($1000 savings bond) and ever since then...I'm getting bombarded.
Obviously LIWeddings sold our name to the vendors. I understand it's a business....but receiving emails and phone calls everyday is a little excessive.
I've complained to LIWeddings, but nothing has been done.
Oh well...once they get your name, your stuck!

Mrs2be, send them another email thru the help button. That's what I did and the vendor emails stopped, and pretty quickly actually. It's worth another try!

I'm not sure who would be giving out phone numbers (that's really annoying) but i wanted to clarify that forum mail sends a message directly to your private email account. So it looks like vendors have your email address when in fact they don't - anyone can forum mail someone, but they're not able to see the personal data.
Re: Has anyone else received 'solicitor' e-mails from LiWeddings vendors?
Its the type of email that Teri is talking about if it says... 'Please note that replying to this email will not send your message to the user emailing you. To email them back, please contact them via the LIWeddings.com Chit Chat email or forum mail options.'
also don't forget...all the halls that you looked at sold your # to bands, florists, djs, etc...I found out that Thatched Cottage did this. I am on the NYS Do Not Call List and I got a few calls from bands...I politely told them that I am on the DNC List and that I was going to report them for telemarketing my #...they tried to explain it that it was the Thatched Cottage's fault...b/c they gave them my #...
and I think there might be some box you have to uncheck for LIW to not get email or mail offers...
