Has anyone else used foxtons?

My parents are using them to sell their home as well as a few of our neighbors. It's a pretty neat concept they make you up flyers, put your home and a virtual tour on their website and put you in the local papers and then you just show your own home and it's only 2% commission.

For example

I just figured I would share with you ladies who are looking for homes on the island. My husband and myself are looking into homes in Alaska and I know what a pain it can be.... argh

When I was looking for my house...I used them...but I didn't wind up buying through them. My brother is an attorney...and he said the closings are more difficult because everything is done ala carte.

I don't have too much experience with them but the few times I have called, the are SO pushy!!! I called to get info on a house, it was gone, yet they INSISTED I speak to a financial consultant....they were borderline harassing until I practically hung up on them....and this happened twice

I'd still call them for future houses but I can't say I'd look forward to the call!

we are buying through them- so far my exprience was ok, in the beginning it was hard to get my bid rolling becuase ou never get to meet the realtor in person,, in fact Im not even sure if the people whom you speak with are realtors but thats another story. But after we got our bid through and accepted they have been very good about following up...

Re: Has anyone else used foxtons?

I bought my home from Foxtons. There was only ONE thing that I found weird: when we called to make an offer, they asked us to get an actual mortgage * commitment * for the full sale price of the home before they would give the homeowners our bid. (What if they would let the house go for less than that?)Worse yet, we had a pre-approval for more than the sale price and they wouldnt accept that either.

Now why would you pay application fees and then wait 4-6 weeks for a commitment to BID on a house that might get sold in the meantime?

Well, we fought it and here we are.

ETA: This was nearly 2 yrs ago. So the good news is (1) hopefully they've changed their procedures or (2) the person who gave us such agita (and possibly bad info) is not working there anymore.

Erica, We have a strong feeling this is what we will get. Dh is at the top of his class so pretty much he has first pic, but we still have to wait another week to see what the Air Force give us. We are both starting to push for Alaska though because everyone tells us it is just amazing up there... well minus the snow, but that you get used to it real fast and unlike NY they know how to clean it up and make the roads clear..
But Germany, and Japan (I still don't know how I feel about that one) are still in the running as well, but we wouldn't buy property at either.
He orginally wanted Destin, Florida but it looks like that won't be available right now. And well Alaska deploys alot less then Germany bases so....
Yeah, we are still waiting but we should know soon!!

We have been looking at this small 2 family right now because it is so cheap...

The pictures are the front of the home, the view of the mtns from the front bedroom, and the backyard. It is also 3 bedrooms 2 bath and a 2 car heated garage which is nice.

From what I've seen/heard, Alaska is beautiful! If you don't mind the winters I'm sure it's something you'd get used to....
