Italy is gorgeous. There are so many pretty towns to see - you can never see it all in one trip.
Iv'e been to Rome and Sicily. Rome is truly beautiful - and there is just soo much site-seeing and history - its really amazing.
Sicily is more relaxing - with beaches, clubs, and bars

Re: Has Anyone Ever
I love, love, LOVE Italy!!! It's such a wonderful country with some absolutely amazing food, wine and shopping. My favorite city, by far, is Venice. If this is your first time then you have to stop by Rome for a couple of days for all of the touristy stuff. I don't think that you need to spend more than 2 days in Rome though. It's not really a romantic spot.

Re: Has Anyone Ever
I was fortunate enough to backpack around Italy while I was in college. I absolutely love it!
Rome is beautiful and has so much history. The Italian Riviera (Cinque Terra) is definitely a must do. I also really love Venice.

Yes I go there almost every year and even went to High School there. Italy is by far my favorite place in the world. Feel free to FM with any questions.

Re: Has Anyone Ever
I LOVE ITALY
I've been there twice, for a total of one month.
I've seen Rome twice, Sorrento, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Siena (tuscany), Naples, and most of Calabria (particularly Rocella Ionica). Blue Grotto, Pompeii, etc.
My favorite was Siena...its a little town in Tuscany. Its soooo beautiful, I can't even begin to tell you. The bus ride there (from Florence) was about 90 minutes, and you have such an incredible ride....its all sunflowers, vineyards, little homes, etc. Did you ever see the movie Under the Tuscan Sun? Its JUST like that. The restaurants are fabulous, the shops are great...I was there last July. My parents 25th anniversary was last October, and while in Italy, they loved the pottery work of one particular shop-owner. I contacted her via email, and she HAND MADE AND SENT US A PLATE! The people are incredible too.
Venice was nice, but dirty. I was in awe of Rome, both times. The history is endless.
I only have a few pics on this computer:
Venice:
Venice in a lightning storm! This pic was taken from our hotel balcony.
From the top of St. Peter's in Rome
Sistine Chapel
SIENA! MY FAVORITE PLACE!!!!

As everyone has said, it is beautiful and the food is excellent.
PS - In the main cities there is great shopping with all the high end stores like Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli, etc. Bring lots of $$$$$$$!!!!

Re: Has Anyone Ever
Italy is amazing and if you have the opportunity to take a vacation there I wouldn't think twice about it. I've been to Italy many times mainly to visit family in Siciliy, but I've also been to Florence (studied there one summer), Rome, Pisa, Siena, and the Amalfi Coast. Once you go to Italy you'll dream of it forever - it's just a beautiful country with so much history to explore. I can't think of a better place for you to spend the most romantic and meaningful vacation of your life.

Re: Has Anyone Ever
I have been there many times as a child and went to cpllege in Rome! IT IS AMAZING!!!! I think it would be an awesome place to go, but you need to decide what kind of honeymoon you want. if you and DH just want to chill and relax I dont know about Italy. There is so much to see, it is a country so rich in culture that it would be a shame not to take advantage of it, BUT if you guys are the type that like to see things and sight see on your honeymoon go for it you will not regret it. Let me know if you have any questions
