We are planning to go this summer but haven't found a tour that interests us that much. FH is afraid to drive b/c it's on the other side of the road! Any ideas?

Re: Has anyone ever been to Ireland before?
I've been there a BUNCH of times! Both Dubliner & Irish Bride were born & raised there.
The driving does take some time to get used to. But as long as you remember that the line on the road is the side where the driver should be your fine. The best thing I did was fly into Shannon airport & we left from Dublin airport. That way you can drive around & see everything you want without having to back track.
My family took a CIE tour years and years ago. Setting aside the insane amount of time sitting on the bus, it was wonderful. The hotels they selected were all lovely. We had ample time to stop at different sites plus some planned rest sites. Our tour guide was very friendly and informative. Everyone on the tour was pretty nice, although much older then my sister and I. We were 19 & 20 at the time and the average age of the group was late 30s-early 40's.
It will be a great trip!!

Went there Only Once so farand Loved it, but didnt take a tour, Mikes both parents were born there, so he has family there (and friends) and has been there a ton of times, so he Knows his way around a bit and doesnt mind the driving, but It is a easy place to navigate and so beautiful. the bed and breakfasts are wonderful, you can book tours where they set you up in B&B and Hotels and with a rental car, I would opt for rental car rather then Bus tour,
Mikes family is going in August and we were tempted to go but with just getting married and going on Honeymoon, its alittle bit too much,
good luck!

As Kimberley said. The B & B's are wonderful!! When you leave one they will call another one for you. There is also a B & B book that a travel agent will give you. the country is small (about the size of Maine) so traveling is easy! It was truly one of the best things my friends & I did!!

I went backpacking around Ireland by myself about 3 years ago. I was in Dublin for St. Patrick's Day 2000 and had a BLAST!! Basically, I bought a bus pass and bounced around the country. I had arranged a couple of nights in a hostel and called around after that. A lot of hostels have rooms for couples that are pretty inexpensive. Enjoy! It's a great country.
