We're going in August & I was hoping to get an idea of what its like there. I've heard it was very upscale ....

Palm Beach (not west palm which is just a regular florida neighborhood) is very upscale. Its relatively small place. There are a few famous hotels and designer shopping area.
In August, it will probably be stiflingly hot!
Not really my sort of place..I was very bored. The streets were mostly empty when I went.
What is the occasion?

I went to a wedding there at the Breakers HOtel...it was gorgeous!
Yes, it's VERY upscale...but I loved it, especially Worth Avenue...it has all the great shops on it!

Since we won't be able to go anywhere for our 1 year anniversary (the baby will be here in Nov) ... we decided to go during the summer when I'm off. DH booked a few nights at the Four Seasons. I also have an aunt in Ft. Lauderdale where we'll go for an extra night.
We're looking for relaxing ... but being pg I'm a little worried about it being so upscale ... you know, models on the beach & me in my 7th month.
I'm sure it will be beautiful, but will I feel out of place there?

I've heard it's absolutely beautiful...I just feel bad that you're going to be 7 months pg in very hot, VERY humid weather. But hey, there's always A/C!!
I think Oprah has a house there (or Boca...somewhere in that area)...it looks like a hotel
but I agree...FL in august...is a killer

I know, August in FLA is tough, but we've been going down there in the summer since I was a little girl. And this will probably be our last chance to go on vacation for a while!

I dont know if it was just when I was there..but I went to Palm Beach and a few other Florida cities in the summer and the beaches were EMPTY! I guess the Floridians dont like the sun very much.
