Has anyone ever been to Tahiti?

Trying to get some recommenations, price ideas etc. DH and I are thinking about taking a trip there before we have a baby. I would appreciate any advice, pictures etc. you can give me

I went to Bora Bora and Moorea... which is the Islands right next to Tahiti.

There's a ton of info on this trip on the HM board... there's a Bora Bora thread that I started.. it's loaded with information and pictures and all.

It's a very expensive place to go to. Traveling there costs a lot, as does staying there and then of course anything you buy on the Islands are very exoensive. A regular bottle of vodka is over $80. Just to give you an idea.

There are some really nice upsale places to stay at. Do you want a bungalow? over the water? on the beach? garden? maybe to stay in a regulat type of hotel? There's so many different directions you can go in.

I paid about 8500 for 2.5 weeks in Bora Bora and Moorea. Just to give you an idea. And that's a good price for the length of time I went for.
