Has anyone ever brought anthing into cocktail hour???
This might sound G-H-E-T-T-O!
But... My FH is OBSESSED with White Castles...
I was thinking of suprising him with White Castles at our Cocktail Hour... and having them passed around on silver platters...
I know everyone will get a kick out of it, b/c 1 entire side of my family is also obsessed with White Castles.
Anyone every have someone bring something into there wedding like this? or been to a wedding with something like this?

I've never heard of thie before but I think its a cute idea. I would just check with your hall about bringing in food from outside places. A lot of places wont let you do it because if someone gets sick from them, they can sue the hall.

i think it depends on the kind of wedding reception you're having IMO. if it's very informal it's one thing, but if it's not, i just dont know...
if you really want this for your fh, how about after the service going to the bridal suite and having it there for him as a surprise as something you can enjoy together in your first moments of being husband and wife?
this is JMO.

I read about someone doing this, except with McDonald's. They did it for their reception food and everyone loved it. I think it is a great idea...and sounds like your FH would love it Just make sure your hall allows it.
Personally, I would LOVE it too...it's so different and unexpected...people will be talking about it forever.

just check with your reception hall because a lot of times they don't allow outside vendors for food

kevin james, the king of queens guy, had mcdonalds cheeseburgers and french fries at his wedding..i saw if your hall allows you to bring in outside food than go for it! wedding cake is different because its considered dessert and i don't think they have health inspectors for those things

My temple doesnt have a kosher caterer so anything goes. They actually SERVE white castles if you want them. People GOBBLED them up at my nephew's Bar Mitzvah! Youd be surprised that more people go for the fun finger food like the pigs in a blanket and White Castles than BBQ duck or brie. Though I LOVE BRIE!

OMG I can totally see FH asking me if we can have white castles at our CH. But I think both of our families would consider it ghetto.
I am considering having pigs and blankets at the CH.

i saw this on theknot.com. a MA couple who loved Krispy Kreme donuts, had a delivery car of krispy kreme donuts delivered at the end of the night to give to all of their guests. maybe you could do the same?

I venture to say that a caterer can buy White Castles FROZEN in bulk from a wholesaler - especially if the general public can buy them frozen in a supermarket. If that is the case, then I wouldnt worry too much about health codes.

My FH is obsessed with this idea too...
I actually heard about a wedding where they brought McDonalds hamburgers in at the end of the night for guests to have 'to-go'. I think it's a really fun idea. I know that my contract states that we cannot bring in any food or beverage because of health codes. I wanted to do a candy buffet and they even said no to that...
By the way, I think everyone is secretly obsessed with white castle...I'm a closet addict too!

Re: Has anyone ever brought anthing into cocktail hour???
I just came back from being out... and guess what we had to get... WHITE CASTLES!!!!!!!!
It is really bad! He eats 2 ten sacks!
I brought it up to my mom... and she thinks its awsome!!! She was like everyone will get a kick out of it!
I am exctied... I am going to call my place tomorrow and see!
Goldie... That is a good idea regarding the frozen ones... maybe that will be cheaper...
I was just there for 20 ten sacks (200 burgers)it would be like $150.00.
Edited to say: as I said above he eats 2 ten sacks... and he is not overweight at all... it makes me sick... I even THINK about eating 1 lil burger... and I gain 20 pounds!
