I have a 'day-of' coordinator that I have to reach out to all the time. In our contract she states that there will 'lots of communication', however she seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I understand that she is a 'day-of' wedding planner, but I expected that she would initiate contact sometimes, and she really hasn't.
Has anyone been in this sitation before? I have only paid her $200 so far...
Thanks so much!

Re: Has anyone ever fired their wedding planner?
Just curious though, at this point what you will be calling on her to do. Your wedding isn't for 10 months and she is a 'day of' coordinator....

I think its a little early to be getting ready to fire her at this point. You have to think she must have other brides who have much closer weddings at this point in time than you do.

IMO, it's too soon to be calling her because she's a 'day of' coordinator. This is the busy season for weddings, so she's probably swamped.
But, if you still feel this way as it gets closer, you might want to consider either 'upgrading' her to a wedding planner, or just look for someone else.
Do NOT give her any more money until you start to feel more comfortable, though.

Maybe you could email her first and explain how you're feeling. You could also ask her to specify exactly when and how much communication you can expect to have with her, so you aren't disappointed . If you find that you need help with things beyond just 'day of' stuff, you could always ask if you could hire her for some additional 'consulting.' I did this with my 'day of' planner and it's worked out really well. Hope this helps

Re: Has anyone ever fired their wedding planner?
Great, thanks so much everyone. I have issues with being impatient, and I know she must be busy with other people's weddings....I was just hoping she would have 'checked-in' more often.
It's still a little while until I'm expected to give her more money, so I'll hold off on doing anything drastic until then

Re: Has anyone ever fired their wedding planner?
Hi, I agree with all of the above. If she is just a day-of coordinator nothing really needs to be done at this moment. However, if you need advice and have been reaching out to her by email she should return your emails within 24 hrs. I am a wedding planner as well and some of my clients that have the day of service only email me to ask me various odds and ends questions. Please do email her so that you both can stay on common ground, and tell her how you feel. Maybe she can explain her service and what she offers a little better. All the best!

Even if she is 'just' a DOC, you and FH need to be very comfortable with her. She's going to be interacting with your close family, BP, officiant and all the vendors you hired, so you'll want to make sure that you trust her and feel comfortable with the way she conducts business. It sounds like you're not satisfied with her services now -- it can't hurt to look around some more for someone else who may meet your needs better.
