We do EMG's in my office and ppl tell me that they are mildly to moderately uncomfortable. They use accupuncture needles. It's in your leg, so, it shouldn't be THAT bad. Don't hold me to that though.

I got it done... I hurt myself playing soccer a few years back and have 3 herniated discs and clearly alot of pain! They did it in my back and that really wasn't bad at all.. the needles are tiny.

is that the test to see if you have any pinched nerves??? if it is it isnt the worst...i had it in my arms and neck....its just really uncomfortabe and just shakes you up a bit.....but i dont really want to say painful. And the needle is really small.

Re: has anyone ever had a EMG nerve conductivity study
I had an EMG done last week to see if I have nerve damage... It starts our uncomfortable, but as they go up and the intensity increases it can start to hurt a bit, i'm not going to lie... I couldn't wait until it was over. But FH says I have a low tolerance for pain

Re: has anyone ever had a EMG nerve conductivity study
I had one done because I was in an accident and have nerve damage to my shoulder and neck. I will be honest with you, I have a very high pain tolerance and while some parts of the test were uncomfortable a few parts hurt pretty bad. I don't know if its because I had damage or not but when he tested certain nerves it was bad. Take a few advil before you go to help with the discomfort. I was uncomfortable for a bout a day afterwards but it was probably because the test aggrevated my injury.
I think everyones experience will be different depending on what is injured, wehre and the extent of it.

Re: has anyone ever had a EMG nerve conductivity study
ok so i'm back from the EMG it wasn't too bad except for the needle in the uper thigh muscle and he stuck one in my back muscle and they want you to relax i wanted to say you let me sick a needle in your muscles and see if you don't tense up.
he did say it looks like there is a problem with a nerve we already knew this grrrrrr i just loveeeeeeeee 50000000000000000000 different test to confirm the same things
