HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A GUEST WHO DID NOT RESPOND SHOW UP AT THE WEDDING ANYWAY?
I am calling people who have yet to respond, and I get a lot of 'Why do I need to send that to you, you know I am coming' Or some that just refuse to send it and want to tell you over the phone who is coming. I don't understand what the problem is, it has a stamp on it!!!
Am I being bitchy?

No- people are stupid, FH says it at least once a day. I must admit, I did misplace a RSVP card this year, but I called.

Beware of the people who say you know I'm coming, why do I need to send the card. Most of those people came but some of them came with extra people, some came solo and told me they were coming with their husbands, etc. It kind of averaged out but it is really annoying when you are trying to do table arrangements and placecards. I also had a family of four that didn't respond at all verbally or otherwise just show up. If you have rude family and friends like I did, I suggest undercounting and bringing extra money. Its better than paying for these unreliable people. Who cares if they don't have a table ready for them, they should have sent back the RSVP.

That is how lazy people are. It is stamped for them, all they have to do is check off a box & they can't even do that. I was still getting responses right up to the wedding. My In-law's had to call a lot of people on their side b/c some people were just totally not responding. I did have people say they were bringing a date so I factored them into the final count, paid for them & everything & then they showed up alone & then didn't cover their dinners. But, of course, you always have the people who are extremely generous that make up for the cheapo's too.

You are so not b@tchy- people are tacky and need to be put in their place.
You need to DEMAND that these people send their responses back. The wedding is a month away.
Sorry, but I went throught this my self and it ticked me off as to how selfish people were.

I told everyone, his parents, my parents... if they don't respond, they're not getting a seat. Call ME B(&^%^tcy if you must, but I was not going to make sure they got a seat the DAY of my wedding, if they couldn't make sure I knew they were coming. I really WISH someone has not rsvp'd and shown up.... w/ hair done, nails and a dress to find out- they were turning around and going home Good luck!!!

I totally agree with you MV1003. That was how we felt too but my MIL stuck her nose in. She had a cousin who said he & his wife were separated so that's why he didn't respond, never saw the invitation. He said he didn't feel up to coming so just mark him as a 'no' so I did. Then I get an email from her one day telling me that she told her cousin that should he decide at the last minute that maybe he needs to spend time with family right now, that it was ok to decide the day of the wedding. She said she didn't care about East Wind's deadline for final #'s, that if her cousin felt the need to be with family that she wanted to give him the opportunity to decide to at the last minute, that was more important. Fine that you feel that way but ASK me if it's ok if ONE person doesn't respond, don't assume.
The guy ended up not coming anyway but she pulled a couple of stunts like that with several people who didn't respond. We finally had to set her straight b/c it wasn't just leaving the door open for 1 person, it turned into several people. It was getting ridiculous!

I don't think your being bitchy! I feel its the very inconsidate people in this world that take this 'yes' for granted.
Listen to this (I'll try to make it short): both my children are getting married, 3 months apart. My sons wedding: we live upstate NY and he his have an sunset, outdoor ceremony and reception. please keep in mind that the sun sets July 4th at 8:43PM, the reception will start approximately 10PM. Needless to say, this part I am not liking at all! Next, the brides family are inviting 400 people. Yes you read right and I do have the correct # of zero's. They are NOT doing RSVP's in the invitations. On the other hand, I have purchased the RSVP cards, stamped the return envelopes and will give them to her when its time to mail out her invites. I want to know who will be attending from my family/friends. Afterall, I am the one that will be making the hotel reservations, hosting a day before, day of, day after brunches for our side. They feel this is an open house reception and there will be more than enough for everyone. Mom will be doing all the cooking, and church friends are doing all the servings.
Sorry if I got off the track of your posting, but I really wanted to explain what some people might think.
I would not call anyone for the yes or no. I would be the ***** () and not include them, HOWEVER, I would make a separate seating just incase type thing. I know with a formal affair, head count is very important. Maybe you could make some sort of arrangement with the caterier on this situation.

Not bitchy at all. It's just plain rude not to respond or acknowledge in some way.

I had to call honestly like couple days b4 the wedding. On the day of the wedding, my mom comes up to me and says so and so doesnt have a place to sit. I made the guest list, went over it a thousand times, however, those people never responded, when I called them they said yes, for 2 people, then show up with 5!, luckily everything was taken care of, but people can be so inconsiderate. I would never not respond or show up more than written down. Some people do not have common courtesy.

IT'S PLAIN RUDE NOT TO RSVP. People aactually think they are the most important guest and don't need to reply. It's rude not to reply and rude to reply and yet still not come!

Re: HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A GUEST WHO DID NOT RESPOND SHOW UP AT THE WEDDING ANYWAY?
I was in a wedding where that happened, & it was one in CT, where they had thw meal choices in the invite, so I have no idea what these peopel ate. The woman called last minute & said her husband couldn't come,so they changed the count with the caterer, but then she showed up with her son who wasn't invited inteh 1st palce, because he is a mess and the never take him out in public.
I also went to a coworker wedding & a former coworker rsvp'd yes, and then b/c his wife had to work, didn't come at all, and told other coworkers, but never the bride. AND I don't think he sent a gift. I was pissed on her behalf, because a year earlier we went to his wedding and we were invited without guest when we both had been with our boyfriends for over a year. AND then he never sent thank yous.
I'm trying to predict who is going to be the numbskull that doesn't rsvp to mine. Probably some college friends.
Sorry so long, stupidity inspires rants.

No- people su@k. They think we are psychic.
You have to chase them down as if they are 2 years ols to get a response, and yes, there will almost always be that one person who sis not respond & will come anyway. This happened to my friend but it wasn't just a person, it was a whole family. People su@k.
I tell people they owe me $.37 for the stamp when they don't respond

Re: HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A GUEST WHO DID NOT RESPOND SHOW UP AT THE WEDDING ANYWAY?
i have a rather creative answer for this - we are going to be including a small note with our invites with things to do in the area - and i figured since we were having that extra piece of paper in the invites it may as well do us some good - we are going to write:
we need all responses by the date indicated on the card - due to the fact we have to meet our budget. if you feel you cant reply by the rsvp date please realize it is not our job to hunt you down and find out what you are doing. we have more than enough stuff to do as it is. if you feel you cannot check off the box and return the postage paid envelope on time or you feel the need to reply later on that you want to attend please include a check for 75.00 to cover the cost of your meal. Also please realize that you may, if responding late, have to sit in the foyer if no tables are available because once the seating arrangements have been made no changes will be allowed.
my fh thinks i am nuts but i know my own family and i have been to weddings where people who were not even invited showed up -and my poor cousin she had 17 extra people show up at her wedding - my 2 uncles were throwing people out - they made a huge scene and it was horrible. the only thing that seems to work with my family is the mention of money - since they are all tightwads. hopefully that will motivate them to respond on time.

Re: HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A GUEST WHO DID NOT RESPOND SHOW UP AT THE WEDDING ANYWAY?
oakslady... That was hilarious...LOL!
I had a co-worker who invited our manager to the weddding. The manager RSVP'd and didnt show up. After the girl came back from her honeymoon, the manager called her and told her that if she wanted the gift she can come down to mgr's office to get it.
Our manager never apologized for not coming and had the audacity to tell the girl to come get the gift! I was like WTF.... My friend was like she can keep her d*mn gift and never went to get it!
The nerve of some people.
