Has anyone ever had or heard of a tilt table test?
Original post by GettinHutched
I'm a little freaked. After my almost-fainting episode a few weeks ago, the cardiologist suggested I have this test because he thinks my blood pressure has a tendecy to get low. So you go to the hospital and they put you on a table and tilt you at different degrees and check your blood pressure. Goes on for about 45 minutes...yikes. They also have to hook me up to an I-V during it! I've NEVER been hooked up to an I-V before.
I have to go Wednesday morning...soooo not looking forward to it. I almost feel like all these tests are so pointless...I have one more test to take after this!
Thanks for listening! I'd love to hear anyone's experiences of this.

I just had one last week!!!! It is not that bad. Its just uncomfortable. They want to see if you pass out and I did which was good and bad because at least we now know the cause of my light headed ness. You lay on a table with an i.v. and they tilt you to a standing position. After 10 minutes if nothing happens they add an adrenaline boost which makes you feel like you're running when standing still (I didn;t make it to that part). Its very quick and not that bad at all.

Oh yikes, I read about that adrenaline part- that scares me!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you're okay!
I have mine at 6:15am tomorrow so I better get to bed! I was so preoccupied with it before that I passed by the building I had to stop at for an appointment!
Thanks everyone, so very much! Your support means a TON right now!

i saw it on a CSI episode once becausethe kid was fainting from the sight of blood and they tested him to see if he was telling the truth. It didn't look that badand like you said the IV thing looked like it was the owrst part. I haven't had a tilt test, but I have had an IV in my arm. It really isn't as bad as you think...liek someone said before---it's better to get tests than to suffer the consequences...you'll be fine and good luck to you
