Has anyone ever hid a pet from their landlords?

Has anyone ever hid a pet from their landlords?

I REALLY want a teacup dog and we asked our landlords and they said no, even though it's not in the lease. But are landlords are never around since they are in the process of moving to North Carolina. There here for a few weeks and then they go down for a month and so on. I would love to still get the dog for Christmas but I'm a little nervous. The dog I want is so small I could hid him in my pocketbook but I know our life is going to be like a Three's Company episode trying to hide the dog. Has anyone ever done this?

What about when you have to walk it? It might bark or cry too. I would be too nervous too do that. DH suggested it 1x when we were renting and I was scared to get caught.

Speaking as a landlord myself, I would be furious. Even though I have a cat myself.

We do have it in our lease. We rather not have our tenant have pets since you don't know how responsible they are and the pet might go potty all over the place or bark up a storm. I would never want an episode of Animal Precinct in my own house, either.

You just don't know.

i did. it wasnt on our lease either.
i hid 2 cats and eventually 2 dogs as well!
she would come over to pick up the rent and i would put the cats in the bioler room...

and i would take the dogs in the car with me and drive around til she was gone. she figured it out and told us we had to get rid of the dogss!!!!!! so i gve Toby (my childhood dog) back to my mom. but she is f-ing crazy if she thought i was gonna get rid of my Lukin.
In the end she just kept her 'cleaning deposit'.. whjo even has that?>!

whats sooo not fair is that the tenants BEFORE us had a puppy!!!

good luck though

(ps. theres no such thing as a teacup dog)

oh.. no matter how small the dog is it still will bark.. and potty training toy breeds is a nightmare in some cases.... so regaurdless, your lanlord will find out... its just a matter of tehm letting yoiu keep it or not.

I know you really want one, but I don't think it's worth the trouble. It's hard enough to properly care for a pet. Then on top of that, you'd have to worry about hiding it? That's going to be really hard!

Any chance you might settle for a smaller pet? Maybe a bunny? There definitely wouldn't be any barking with that.

Please don't do this. It is so irresponsible. I know you really want a dog so its tempting. But it is so not fair to the dog or cat if you get caught.

My landlords dont live in the house and I really wanted a dog, so I got one. We hid it for a year then I got caught, it turned out they didnt mind at all.

I always had the plan that if they said I couldnt have him, I would tell them that because my FH works all the time, I needed protection.

I have Chloe and my building is no pets along with all the builidings in Great Neck! I was told by my broker that it's a don't ask don't tell policy with cats.

When we were interviewed by the board they told us please no dogs or treadmills....nothing about cats!

But it's funny, I see dogs in and out of the building all the time and if you look in any of windows of the building...you see cats in the windows all the time.
