Has anyone ever just sent out Anoucements of their marriage to people who you didn't invite to the wedding?
I have never heard of such a thing. MY FH is asking to do this because most of his family lives all over the country. He says this is to inform them that He/We got Married...I Say that looks like you are asking for a gift!
Can anyone help me with this?

i will be doing this. there a people who would like to know of the wedding, but will not be invited. ie live far, haven't spoken to on a regular basis but still friends, etc.
also, since it's done after the wedding, it usually won't be seen as asking for a gift.

DH had a lot of family out of the country who would NOT be able to get visas to come to the wedding. We sent them invites anyway-it was aunts and uncles and cousins who he says would have been insulted if they didnt get an invite. No one sent a gift but at least they werent insulted
can you just send an invite anyway to be 'polite'

You mail them the day of the wedding. We didn't do it...you can mail them to people you don't invite or those who don't make it...I've never received one...I personally see it as a waste....isn't it easier to just invite people you know won't come and then they have that?

I have only received an announcement once. The couple eloped in Vegas and only the grooms 2 sisters were there. Not even their parents.

I agree-I would just send an invite. This way no one gets offended. We are sending invites to people we know can't make it.

same here... sent invites to people who i know can't make it.
i had the same issue with people in other countries who would feel 'offended'. pissed me off beyond belief, especially since none of them sent me one when they got married. but did it to avoid killing my mother over it
