Has anyone ever made a bridal shower at home?

Has anyone ever made a bridal shower at home?

I'm hosting a small shower for my own MOH in my apartment in the city. I haven't even had my own shower yet but I was hoping people had suggestions for:

Food
Seating (did you rent chairs? tables?)
Any other advice you can give me!

FYI the shower for 15 people will be held in a 22x12 living room...so not much space for anything.

I had one in my parents hose a couple years back. We though buffet style was better than a sit down dinner do to space and the amount of people. We set the dinning room table as the buffet table to hold all the food. We place a card table next to it with all the silverware and, napkins, and plates. We have a rolling bar the we had on the other end of the table with cups, ice, and drinks.

Costco sells plastic forks, spoons, and knives that look like silverware. Not identical, but a lot nicer then regular plastic.

We picked foods that were easy to eat with out a table. You can make baked ziti, sausage and peppers, and finger foods. We set up chairs throughout the house and some small tables for people to place their drinks.

my shower will be at my mom's house ...

we're keeping the guest list small (about 25 people in total). She'll be renting a few extra chairs probably, and just having 'simple' food (make your own sandwiches)

I went to a baby shower once in a NYC apartment. It was a small group of women and the hostess just had like small-bites and appetizers - cheese board with crackers and olives and a baked brie (which was delish). I guess she just had wine and non-alcoholic beverages. It was really nice and informal. She didn't rent any chairs or anything, she had just set up some seating around her living room.

My shower will be at my mom's house. I have no idea what she is doing and I don't want to know. She told me to try and keep the guest list at no more than 50 but I it's only around like 35.

I did my sisters at my moms house..we got deli catering..like heroes, macaroni, pasta salad... we did it outside since it was nice out, only 15 people not much room on the deck but we made it work! We borrowed chairs from neighbors.. it was really nice!

we did it for my sister... we have a bunch of folding chairs and tables that my parents had accumulated over the years (we have a big fam) so we didnt need to rent seating or tables... and i think we catered from a local place... nothing big...

Mine will be at my mom's house (because my mom is a huge procrastinator and started planning my shower two months before the wedding and could not find a place) I know she is going to be clearing the living room and renting chairs and making some of the food since she loves to cook.

I went to one that was in a house. The theme was tea (and lingerie because apparently she didn't need housewares and someone thought it would be a good idea for everyone to give her lingerie). They set up the dinning room with tea and little bites like finger sandwiches and mini quiche. The living room was set up like normal with the couches but they added the dining room and kitchen chairs to make it like a circle so everyone could chat and watch her open gifts (while her face was bright red). People really mingled around and only sat to eat and watch her open presents, so it wasn't cramped at all.
You could definitely do it with appetizers, like a cocktail party. My family is very used to this, a lot of the times when we have holidays there are just too many people to fit at a table! Just set up chairs (from the dining room or get some folding ones from friends) and have people eat in their chairs.
