I just came back to the fabric store and got all the necessary materials except for the plywood. I see the people on HGTV do it and it looks real easy. Has anyone ever made a fabric headboard?

My Dh is making one for us now but not out of fabric. I'd love to see pictures!

I'm LMAO b/c I say the same thing - it looks so easy!!! I am obsessed with Debbie Travis and Candice Olsen. It always looks so good when they do it. I am just afraid that if I tackle it it will end up looking ridiculous.

here is a link to a dyi upholstered headboard i found on the bhg site
CANDICE OLSEN IS THE BEST!!! I always want to call to have her come do a room in my house but she looks expensive. They never tell her budget. I have to say that the budgets on designers challenge are outrageous!!!!

I think they don't tell the budget on Divine Design because it's Canadian????
But I agree .. some of the budgets on Designer's Challenge are INSANE!! (I'm so jealous)
I'm more in the budget of Decorating Cents .. the segment of the show where they 'redo' the room with no money!

Re: Has anyone ever made their own headboard?
Thanks Skew, I might try that headboard in my guestroom. Thanks!
ETA: I decided to look at some doors here's what I found, this door is $25 at Lowe's but there are some other ones that are more expensive. I just want to be able to stain the door so I'm not sure if this one will work but I'll check it out this weekend.
I've always wanted to make my own...ideally I would find an old iron gate and use that as one.
In the meantime, I acquired a decorative asian, 4-fold screen that I use as a headboard. It definitely added a nice architectural element to the room...and I didn't have to do anything but put it flat against the wall and then push the bed up to it.
